- The Broken Steel DLC is affected by a bug which could cause Dogmeat, Fawkes or RL3-Sergeant to become invulnerable. This mods provide an effective fix. A separated .esp for every companion is provided, see Usage notes for the details.

- Installation
- First, you have to locate the following files:
- Broken Steel.esm
- Broken Steel - Main.bsa
- Broken Steel - Sounds.bsa
- and copy them in the
\\Bethesda Softworks\\Fallout3\\Data folder. In Vista, these files are located in a subfolder of \\Users\\ \\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\XLive\\DLC\\ path. The remaining bink (.bik) files must be copied in the \\Bethesda Softworks\\Fallout3\\Data\\Video folder instead. There\'s no need to activate the .esm if you\'re using the windows Live client, however if these files are not in the game installation folders you\'ll experience istant CTD upon launching the game with the mod activated. - Extract the Archive content in the
\\Bethesda Softworks\\Fallout3\\Data. Choose the right .esp files (see Usage Notes below) and activate it through Data Files in game Launcher or a suitable Tool (Fomm). - Usage Notes.
- The main rule is: DO NOT ACTIVATE A FIX ESP IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ACTIVATED BROKEN STEEL AND THE COMPANION IS NOT INVULNERABLE! By doing so, you\'ll make him quite weak. This is due a script function (setessential to 0) which causes levelling data to be stored in the savegame for RL-3 and Dogmeat, making them incompatible with the fix.
- Specific Companion rules.
- 1) DOGMEAT. If you already hired him before enabling Broken Steel, he shouldn\'t become invulnerbale, so I recommend non to use the fix. If you haven\'t hired him yet, or you have hired him after enabling Broken Steel, he\'s expected to be invulnerable, so I recommend enabling the fix. Notice the mod contains a spell ability which increases companion health by 3
