📋 About This Mod
Six historical impact weapons
WHAT IT DOES It adds 6 new blunt weapons: a six-flanged knightly mace, a warhammer, a two-handed warhammer, 3 morning stars, i.e., spiked maces. (That is the correct name, yes. Historically the morning star was a spiked mace, not a flail.) The idea is basically this: in most games so far, we end up (by default or by mods) with a nice selection of guns and swords. And don\'t get me wrong, swords are cool. But variety is also good. You know what I mean? And, honestly, the blunt weapons in Fallout 3 just never inspired me. I\'m supposed to bash in an enclave trooper\'s helmet and head in... with a pool cue? Really? Or a board with a nail in it? Ok, so there\'s the super-hammer, but, meh, it looks just unwieldy. So I thought I\'d take matters in my own hands and make a mace or two. The flanged mace has six sturdy, narrow, almost triangular flanges, to help concentrate the impact on a very narrow surface. It\'s the weapon used in the middle ages to crease plate armour joints, or even knock an enemy out through plate. This one also has a nasty bladed spike at the top, for when a thrust is the right move. Finishing the package is a rough woven handle, for maximum grip. The warhammer is a relatively late model, namely the \"military pick\" variant. Unlike the original warhammers, the pointy end curves a bit downwards, like the beak of a bird. The name \"military pick\" comes from the resemblance with a miner\'s pick. The one here is not only socketed to the wooden shaft, but also metal bands fixed to the wood with rivets. It also features a broad spike at the top, for when you just need to stab someone. The 2h warhammer is the scaled up version of the above, if you prefer big two-handed weapons. I haven\'t set it to do more damage, since it was already high, so it\'s just a question of style and aesthetics. Morning Star 1 has six rows of five sturdy spikes each, plus a thicker spike at the top for thrusting, and a sturdy metal shaft. Nasty piece of work, really. It has the same woven leather handle for maximum grip. Morning Star 2 has a steel ball with about 19 spikes, including the longer top spike, as a head, and a more traditional (for a Morning Star) wooden shaft. The shaft is a little thicker than the metal ones, to resist impact. The head is socketed on the shaft. The handle is wrapped in leather. Morning Star 3 is a variant of 1, really. It has fewer spikes, which is to say it\'s actually the more usual design for that weapon, historically. They\'re sturdier spikes, though, for better effect against armour. It has a wooden shaft and a leather-wrapped handle. All are repaired with lead pipes. (Yes, it makes no sense, but nothing else makes more sense, and you might as well have some use for those.) Note 1: the damage _is_ top end for a melee weapon the base game, though not more than that, but it becomes a bit more \"meh\" by the time you\'re level 30 in Broken Steel. I.e., I don\'t think it\'s horribly unbalanced. But
