Alien Captive Recorded Log 17 Restored

Hello.

It has been about a decade and a half since I was a teen messing around with the G. E. C. K. and creating largely pointless plugins for my newly-discovered favourite game.

Well, all this time has gone by and Fallout 3 is still my favourite game of all time, and Fallout is still my obsession.

I'm not even playing the game right now, but I found myself wondering if anyone had ever tried to recreate the full audio for Mothership Zeta's alien captive recorded log 17, which notoriously contains only the aliens' speech and lacks the human side of the exchange - even though the subtitles still work. I was surprised to find that despite all the advanced AI text to speech tools available nowadays, the holotape remains unpatched.

So I dusted off the G. E. C. K. and after re-learning how to use the obtuse damn thing, finding out about .lip files and lots of trial and error, I finally created a humble little mod that some people might actually want to use. Teenage me would be proud.

Was the tape bugged or did Bethesda actually cut the voice lines because of the implications they presented? But why not just cut the whole thing instead of having an unfinished tape with the subtitles still showing? I'm leaning towards bugged, so I'm categorising this mod as a bugfix.

Installation:

Manual: Drop the file into your Fallout 3 install directory. Make sure ArchiveInvalidation is enabled. Endorse 🙂

Mod Manager: Just let the mod manager program of your choice install it. Endorse 🙂
