📋 About This Mod
I was excited to add the HUD mod to my helmet cause sometimes I struggle to see enemies in F76, I was very disappointed by the fact that it was nothing like F4 since I didn't find any mod about it I decide to do it myself and share with others that was as disappointed as me.
MANUAL INSTALLATION:
Extract the "BetterTargetingHUD.ba2" file to your Fallout 76 Data folder default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda.net Launcher\games\Fallout76\Data
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout76\Data
Navigate to your Fallout 76 settings folder in "My Games" (default: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Fallout 76)
If this is your first mod, extract the optional "Fallout76Custom.ini" file to the current directory.
Otherwise, add the name of the new archive, "BetterTargetingHUD.ba2", to the list, separated by a comma, like so:
sResourceArchive2List = BetterTargetingHUD.ba2,Exemple.ba2
Better Targeting HUD replaces Fallout 76's targeting HUD with a Fallout 4-style version, making enemies easier to spot. It's a manual-install mod with 67 endorsements and 2,820 downloads, last updated in October 2023. For players who prefer the classic Fallout 4 targeting visuals.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Fills a niche gap for Fallout 76 players who miss Fallout 4's HUD (67 endorsements)
- Simple file drop installation with clear path instructions
- Actively maintained as of October 2023
⚠️ Cons
- Manual installation may be tricky for modding newcomers
- Requires editing the ini file if you already have mods installed
- No screenshots or videos provided to preview the visual change
For Fallout 76 players who find the default targeting HUD hard to see and want a familiar Fallout 4-style interface. Skip if you're happy with the vanilla HUD or prefer a more modern overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're on Steam, make sure to extract the .ba2 to the correct Data folder path, not the Bethesda.net one.
- When editing Fallout76Custom.ini, keep the existing entries and just add BetterTargetingHUD.ba2 to the list, separated by a comma.
- If you have other mods, don't overwrite the ini—append the new archive name to the existing sResourceArchive2List line.
