📋 About This Mod

OVERVIEW

In vanilla Fallout 4, elemental damage doesn't work the way it should. The Flamer deals Energy damage. The Cryolator's output is a mix of Ballistic, hidden explosive, and Cryo rather than pure Cryo. Legendary effects named Freezing and Incendiary apply generic Energy damage regardless of what their names imply. Enemy elemental attacks — Mr. Handy flamers, Angler acid,  Napalm — deal Energy where they should deal something specific.

TRUE - Elemental fixes this across the board. Elemental weapons now deal the damage type they are supposed to deal. The Flamer applies a non-stacking burning DoT. The Cryolator deals clean Cryo damage. Kremvh's Tooth and the Acid Soaker deal Poison. Legendary effects apply the correct elemental damage type. Every enemy elemental source in the game has been corrected.

Elemental weapons are meant to be a legitimate choice, not a niche curiosity. TRUE - Elemental brings them in line with ballistic weapons without tipping the balance.

COMPANION MOD | TRUE - F76 RESISTANCES

TRUE - Elemental handles elemental damage. TRUE - F76 Resistances handles elemental resistances — on armor, power armor, armor linings, and Ballistic Weave. The two mods are designed to work together.

Without TRUE - F76 Resistances, armor has no elemental resistances. This means the corrected elemental weapons in TRUE - Elemental will hit disproportionately hard, on both the player and enemies. Installing both mods is strongly recommended for the intended experience.

TRUE - Elemental: elemental weapon damage types, weapon and attachment rebalancing, legendary effect corrections, enemy elemental corrections, and Bleed, Poison, and Burning reworks.

TRUE - F76 Resistances: elemental resistances (Fire, Cryo, Poison, Radiation) on all armor, power armor, linings, and Ballistic Weave.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid community traction with 108 endorsements and 6,599 downloads
  • Brings Fallout 76's damage model philosophy to Fallout 4, which is a fresh take for veterans
  • Targets specific weapons (Flamer, Cryolator, Heavy Incinerator) so you know exactly what's changed

⚠️ Cons

  • Only covers a handful of weapons, so if you're expecting a full elemental overhaul, this might feel limited
  • Since it's a balance mod, it may conflict with other weapon overhaul mods that touch the same weapons
  • No explicit compatibility notes, so you'll need to test with your load order
🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout 4 players who want more balanced elemental weapons and enjoy Fallout 76's damage mechanics. If you're tired of the Flamer feeling weak or the Cryolator being a gimmick, this mod is for you. Skip if you prefer vanilla balance or don't use these specific weapons.
