📋 About This Mod
Give each Settler a complete standardized uniform with a new Hat, Bandanna, Outfit, Ammo, and Weapon to suit their assigned task with one console command. No more talking to and manually assigning weapons/clothes to each individual settler.
Why did I make this?: I wanted a way to make it super easy to see from a distance which settlers were assigned to what task (a feature that I am astounded was not included in the base game). Until recently I have been gathering hats or sets of clothing, talking to each settler, manually moving the clothing into their inventory, and equipping each piece in their inventory menu. Needless to say this was painfully tedious, especially as my settlements grew.
I figured that there must be an easier way to equip a large number of NPCs with the same equipment via the console, so I found the necessary commands and made some batch files to streamline the process. Now, with these batch files, I can just open the console, click on a settler, and enter one of the bat commands to replace all of their existing equipment with a new uniform.
What EXACTLY does this mod do?
This mod adds new batch commands to the console, using one of these console commands on a settler (or any other npc for that matter) does 4 things:
1. Un-equips and deletes everything that is currently in the target settler's inventory (to keep them from switching back to their old gear)
2. Equips a new standardized uniform, including a hat, bandanna, outfit, and weapon. (all vanilla outfits and weapons, so no other mods are required.)
3. Places 1 of each kind of ammo in the settler's inventory so they can immediately use any new weapon they decide to pick up / you decide to give them.
4. (optional) Removes caps from the player's inventory every time the command is used. (Default is 0, you can increase the value to adjust game balance if you feel that replacing your settlers' outfits and weapons for free is cheating)
How to Install this Mod: Extract the .txt files from "Settler Uniforms.zip" and place them in your Fallout 4 directory ("C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4" by default)
How to Uninstall this mod: Remove the .txt files from your Fallout 4 directory
How to Use: 0. Save your game just in case you accidentally change an NPC you didn't want to.
1. Assign a settler to a task using workshop mode just like you normally would. THESE COMMANDS ONLY CHANGE THE NPCs' OUTFIT AND INVENTORY, THEY DO NOT CHANGE THEIR ASSIGNMENTS, so settlers must be assigned in workshop mode just like usual.
2. Hit the ~ key to open the console, and click on the settler you want to change so their reference id # is displayed on the screen. (Sometimes the console is finicky about selecting the correct person, if it keeps selecting the wrong person try moving closer to the target npc, or telling the npc to move to a more isolated area in workshop mode)
