Recruit Rotten Landfill Scavengers

When you approach the Rotten Landfill for the first time, you are greeted by a pair of scavengers engaged in a knockdown, drag out fight to the death with a horde of molerats. Sadly, even if you rescue the duo in time, you can't offer them a home in one of your settlements... Until now.

Recruit Rotten Landfill Scavengers allows you to recruit the pair through vanilla rescue dialog and send them to a settlement where they will function as any other settler. As noted in my other mods that operate in the same way, recruitment via rescue dialog can be finicky. If you choose the wrong dialog tree or break contact before completing the recruitment process, you might not get another chance. This is a vanilla issue that I don't know how to change. As such, I recommend that you make a save before approaching the Rotten Landfill just in case something goes awry.

Note #1: If the scavengers don't head for a settlement immediately after recruitment, it is because they have not yet given you some caps for helping them. Keep interacting with them until the reward script fires, after which they will head for the assigned settlement as expected.

Note #2: Although this mod can be installed mid game, installation must happen before the Rotten Landfill (or its cell) loads for the first time, as the battle noted above does not repeat. If you've already cleared the place, you'll have to wait until your next playthrough to recruit the scavengers.

Compatibility

This mod should be compatible with anything that does not alter the scavengers' NPC (Actor) records.
