📋 About This Mod
Version 2 update: WARNING: may accidently cause you to loose some of your module pieces from this mod (i didnt check to make sure all the form ids were the same) if this occurs, open the console and type "help power 4" then search through the list for the "ARMO" pieces your missing, then type "player.additem xxxxxxxx #" (where x is the items form id and # is the number you want)
this mod contains several pairs of goggles, and undefined armor pieces that give you some of the abilities that you can only normally get with power armor
all items are craft-able, in the utility section of the chemistry station all craft-able in the brand new "PERSONAL GEAR" option in the Chemistry Station
Current items: Targeting Recon Goggles (with or without nightvision) - Charisma based Personal Stealth Field Generator (works like fo3's Chinese stealth armor) Auto Stimpack Injector (medical pump) Jetboots (jetpack) new Overdrive Unit (similar to overdrive servos, makes you run alot faster) new Food Sterilizer (untested, supposed to work like blood cleaner, removes rads from food) new a version of the wrap around goggles that doesnt have the highlighting effect, but still has the bonus to charisma and recon abilities
notes/bugs -i cant seem to get a jetpack graphic to show up -the stimpack injector does apply the stimpack animation when it activates (couldnt make it not), this can prevent you from firing or hitting enemies, becareful -i am sofar, unable to get the tesla coil ability to work -be-careful with flight, you could kill yourself, because i also cant seem to rip the freefall legendary ability
Credits: for inspiration aerysthemaddovahking - Jetpack ring guffeh -targeting hud eyewear skyrimlu -Stealth gear
made in alongside and to work with my other mod: Independent Power Armor Moduals
Personal Gear adds standalone items that grant power armor abilities for use outside of power armor. It's a niche utility mod for players who want power armor perks without the bulky suit. With 80 endorsements and over 1,100 downloads, it has a small but active following, though it hasn't been updated since 2015.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Gives you power armor perks without the clunky suit—great for stealth or light builds.
- Tiny download and install, so it won't bloat your load order.
- 80 endorsements from 1,107 downloads shows a decent approval rate.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2015, so it may have compatibility issues with newer game patches or DLC.
- No detailed description means you're flying blind on what exactly the items are or how to get them.
- Potential conflicts with other mods that alter power armor or perk systems.
This is for players who want the mechanical benefits of power armor (like increased carry weight or damage resistance) without the visual bulk or movement restrictions. It's also for roleplayers who want to create a 'powered exoskeleton' vibe without wearing the full suit. If you're a completionist or prefer lore-friendly gear, this might not be for you.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Check the mod's file structure to see if it adds items to your inventory or requires crafting—since the description is vague, you'll need to explore in-game.
- If you're using a mod manager, install manually to ensure the files go to the right place, as older mods sometimes have folder structure quirks.
- Test the items in a save before committing to a playthrough, as the mod's age might cause unexpected behavior with your current setup.
