📋 About This Mod
No Glowing Mines and Realistic Tripwires.
EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MOD ( read, install this too!!! )

Those of you who know me, know I like to have some semblance of realism in my fantasy games. Realistic characters, realistic armor and weapons and realistic traps. No one would ever make a pressure plate with a big, easily identifiable rune, and no one would ever put lights on a landmine.
So I have removed all of the lights from the landmines. Enjoy. :)
Added in two variants of the fishing line tripwires. One is invisible and the other is very hard to see with just a few strands of realistic looking line. You kinda have to be right on top of it, or catch it in the right light to see it.
Added in invisible laser tripwires.
Both the fishing line tripwires and the laser tripwires are separate optional files.
Thanks to Dieselpunker for the suggestion. :)
Added the IED traps to the list of things that no longer glow.
A small cosmetic mod for Fallout 4 that removes the glowing lights from all mines, making them harder to spot. With 458 endorsements and 167,034 downloads, it's a popular quality-of-life tweak for players who want a more realistic wasteland. Last updated in 2015, so it's old but still functional for many.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 458 endorsements and over 167k downloads—clearly a lot of people want this.
- Makes mines actually dangerous again; no more glowing beacons giving away traps.
- Tiny mod, no bloat—just does one thing and does it well.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2015—might not be compatible with the latest Fallout 4 patches or DLC.
- No install instructions or compatibility notes from the author, so you're on your own.
- Removing the glow could make mines too hard to see for some players, especially in dark areas.
For Fallout 4 players who want a more immersive, hardcore survival experience where traps are actually traps. If you're tired of spotting mines from a mile away because they glow like Christmas lights, this is for you. Skip if you prefer clear visual cues for hazards or play on lower difficulty where mines aren't a big threat.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod is from 2015, test it in a save before committing—if you have all DLC, it might cause issues.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or NMM to install and easily uninstall if you don't like the change.
- Pair with a flashlight mod or increase your brightness settings to compensate for the removed glow.
