📋 About This Mod

Version 1. 1 is now available in both ESP and ESL formats! NOTE: These new versions are NOT compatible with old savegames - do not upgrade mid-game!

This mod adds additional map markers that pinpoint merchants, landmarks, unmarked dungeons, and other places of interest in the Commonwealth. These map markers have been created from scratch in the CK (no disabled vanilla map markers have been modified) and have been placed outside of settlement boundaries to avoid the (now fixed) cell reset bug. MHDT and WLEV info have also been included to prevent Vertibirds from flying through buildings/walls. The following locations now have map markers attached to them:

Zone 1: Charlestown Mountain Range

Sanctuary Hills Root Cellar

Egg Rock Pond (Merchant)

Zone 2: Medford and North Central Commonwealth

Deathclaw Nest

Hilltop Hut

Zone 3: Western Commonwealth

Arcjet Systems Engine Prototype

Bethany's Shack (Merchant)

Deathclaw Den

Forest Grove Overlook (Merchant)

Roof Rabbit Ranch (Merchant)

The Rocket Shed

Zone 4: Coastal Commonwealth

Leonard's Trading Post (Merchant)

Zone 5: Natick and the Glowing Sea

Crashed Cargo Truck

Sunken Super-Duper Mart

Zone 6: Quincy and Southern Commonwealth

Abandoned Minuteman Outpost

Eleanor's Camper (Merchant)

Overflow Outlet Camp

Percy Lane Estates

Zone 7: Cambridge

Science Center Gift Shop (Merchant)

Zone 9: The Fens

Flagon Tunnel (Merchant)

The Brookline Building

Zone 15: Financial District

Opal's Alley (Merchant)

Zone 17: Boston Harbor

Slim's Camp (Merchant)

Arrival markers for these locations have been arranged as best as possible to prevent you from instantly coming under attack as soon as you fast travel, but some locations are hotspots for danger and safety cannot be guaranteed (I'm looking at you, Deathclaw Den). Names for these locations have either been derived from the GECK (Flagon Tunnel), the PRIMA Strategy Guide (Overflow Outlet Camp), their form/function (Roof Rabbit Ranch), or their proximity to geographic landmarks (Egg Rock Pond).

This mod isn't as comprehensive as CMM Cartographer Map Markers is, but it isn't meant to be. Just hitting the highlights of extra map markers with a special emphasis on easy access to merchants throughout the Commonwealth. I haven't looked at adding map markers to Far Harbor yet, but if there is a demand, I'll look at adding more map markers there as well.

Special thanks to the following:

Arthmoor, for answering my questions regarding the Cell Reset Bug before it was fixed.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 1,173 endorsements and over 21k downloads—clearly a mod people trust.
  • Makes exploration way less tedious by pointing out unmarked dungeons and merchants you'd otherwise miss.
  • Lightweight UI tweak that doesn't mess with gameplay—just adds convenience.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2018—might have compatibility issues with newer game patches or DLC.
  • Could clutter your map if you prefer a minimalist HUD—more markers means more visual noise.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout 4 explorers who hate missing hidden locations and want to squeeze every bit of content out of the Commonwealth. Also great for completionists who want to find every unmarked dungeon without a wiki open. Skip if you're a purist who likes discovering things organically or if you're on a modded setup that already adds map markers.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since this mod only adds map markers, it's safe to install mid-playthrough—no need to start a new game.
  • If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or NMM, just download and activate; manual install means dropping the files into your Data folder.
  • Check if you have any other map overhaul mods that might conflict—load order matters if you do.
