📋 About This Mod

A prototype weapon in development before the great war, the Mk 41 Gyrojet Heavy Machine Gun never ended up seeing action. Instead it lies dormant in the basement of a testing ground somewhere in the Commonwealth, ready to be acquired and used. Rather than firing conventional bullets, the weapon fires gyrojet rounds - caseless, self-propelled and gyroscopically stabilised projectiles with on-board fuel payloads.

This means that by default, the Mk 41 Gyrojet does not suffer from any damage falloff at longer distances that other weapons do, and with the right receiver upgrades, can in fact deal considerable bonus damage to targets further away.

Enter Fort Strong (the building) and immediately in front of you there will be a trapdoor to the new sub-basement added by this mod. You will be able to find the Mk 41 Gyrojet inside, along with a number of boxes of prototype alternate ammunition and an ammo switcher kit to switch the ammo type you are using on the fly.

If you're the insubordinate type, you can open the console and type "help gyro 4 weap" to view the ID for the Mk 41 Gyrojet in the brackets, then type "player.additem X" where X is the ID of the weapon to instantly own it. We are not responsible if you get court-martialed for this.

Vendors do not sell the gyrojet ammunition (as the weapon has not been seen out in the wasteland) but you can craft your own ammunition at a chem bench under Utility.

Alongside a receiver upgrade chain that can prioritise short range, bonus distance, critical hit or general damage, there are a plethora of customisation options to choose from including multiple magazine, scope, barrel and muzzle types. Firemode is also a separate toggle, and you can even choose whether you want to use your Rifleman or Heavy Weapon skills when wielding the gun. There are also several different types of gyrojet ammunition - standard, incendiary, cryo, high explosive and mini-mini nuke. One of the largest customisation categories is the sticker option.

The Mk 41 Gyrojet mod includes a collectable sticker system. By finding and opening sticker packs in the world (most commonly found at Red Rocket gas stations and general vendors) you can apply the stickers you find to the stock of the Gyrojet, or sell them or the packs on. Your Luck has an influence over what you might find inside the packs. There are over 40 stickers and some high value rare stickers to find, and you can even place the stickers around your settlement (under the Wall Decorations > Miscellaneous category).

In addition to collectable stickers, there are various experimental modifications dotted around the commonwealth inside army caches in transit that never reached their destination. As the Mk 41 Gyrojet

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's a weapon mod, make sure you have the necessary DLC or game version that matches the mod's requirements — check the mod page for any hidden dependencies.
  • If you're using a mod manager, let it handle the file placement to avoid conflicts with other weapon mods.
  • Test the weapon at different ranges to get a feel for the damage scaling — it's not your typical spray-and-pray gun.
