📋 About This Mod
What is this mod and why should it be used when playing Northern Springs?
Jshrapnelc, the author of Northern Springs has sadly passed away in 2022. He was one of my closest friends and thus I have decided to make a bugfix/update mod for his Northern Springs mod. My work fixes CTDs, bugs, corrects grammar and typos in many notes/terminal. There is also some new content, and some minor changes/tweaks. - My mod is not a redux mod. I'd consider it an unofficial update, a maintenance project that stays true to the original vision that Jshraps had.
BUGFIXES:
- Deleted navmeshes were restored (These were likely deleted by accident)
- Wrong texture size was corrected to prevent potential CTDs
- A certain weapon that was causing potential CTDs was corrected
- The infamous dialogue-lockout bug was fixed in all instances I could find
- Corrected many quest problems (Find Pete Cooper in Diamond City, etc).
- Many odd terrain texture problems were corrected, but not all (because Northern Springs is very large)
- Many typos and wrong grammar in the terminals, notes and dialogue were corrected
- (Under optional files) The mismatched female body texture was corrected by providing the Vanilla female body textures as loose files
CHANGES/REBALANCES:
- The Damage output of some weapons was changed to be closer to Fallout 4's weapon balance
- The value of many items in Northern Springs was changed to be closer to Fallout 4's economy
- Some food items were rebalanced to be closer to Fallout 4's food items
- Many pieces of dialogue received a cooldown of 4-8 hrs
(In a livestream Jshraps said that he wanted Northern Springs to feel like a Fallout 4 DLC, these changes try to make NS closer to vanilla)
NEW CONTENT
- Terra, the flower merchant outside of Sanatogan received voiced dialogue, she is now a proper trader that sells flowers and the mushrooms
- Kassandra Jones and Scott Flynn, residents of Orchardfield received some voiced dialogue
- Helen, the ghoul woman at Helen's Farm received some voiced dialogue
- Drunk Terry, the farting drunk guy in Orchardfield received some new dialogue
- A new reward was added to finishing the mainquest in Northern Springs: The Prototype G2 rifle
- New crafting recipes were added
- New Loading Screens were added
BUGS/ISSUES CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION:
- Radio stations going silent (see more under Known issues)
- Main quest of Northern Springs not progressing sometimes, unless you restart the game at a checkpoint
- Some side quests not working, NPCs not initiating important dialogue
- Some minor issues here and there, as well as many visual bugs and oddities
TL;DR: This mod fixes most critical problems in the original mod. A lot of bugs have been fixe

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-trusted patch with 387 endorsements and 30k+ downloads.
- Addresses stability issues (CTDs) that plague the original Northern Springs mod.
- Rebalancing brings items in line with vanilla Fallout 4, making the mod feel more cohesive.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires the original Northern Springs mod to work, so you need to install both.
- Texture packs are only 1K and 2K, so 4K users might be disappointed.
- Last updated in December 2025 — if the original mod updates, this patch might need a refresh.
For Fallout 4 players who love Northern Springs but are tired of crashes and unbalanced gear. If you're a modder looking for a stable base to build on, this patch is essential. Skip if you don't use Northern Springs or prefer vanilla balance.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Install the original Northern Springs mod first, then this patch overwrites its files.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to avoid file conflicts.
- If you experience crashes after installing, double-check that you have the correct load order — this patch should load after Northern Springs.
