📋 About This Mod

WARNING: All magazines you've collected before installing this mod must be in your inventory at the time of installation, or the mod will be unable to count the number of magazines you've already found. It cannot count magazines you've placed in storage.

SIDE NOTE

You do not need YAE in order to use this mod; it's a completely standalone mod that should work by itself without it, even if you decide to use a different Skill System. It just exists to make the Perks Tab less crowded, and organize all the magazine Perks into their own place.

Take special note that I only addressed Perks that were granted to the Player by magazines. If a magazine provided you with anything else, this mod doesn't touch it. I also changed the descriptions for some of these Perks, as the almighty Bethesda kept them rather short. In the future, I may consider churching up all the descriptions with the pizzazz and flair that I'm known for, but for right now, I'm just getting the mod out there, and looking for feedback on it.

FOREWORD

Making this wasn't really something I planned on doing. I had finished up making a patch for PipBoyTabs to work with my main mod, You Are Exceptional, and since my knowledge of how PBT works was still fresh in my head, I went ahead and made this, since the hundreds of Perks YAE adds tends to get thrown in with random stuff I you might not really looking for information on. I found it a bit frustrating, anyway.

If you found MPT interesting, check out my other works, specifically You Are Exceptional, an intricate Skills System acting as the spiritual successor of Be Exceptional and You Are SPECIAL, which does it's own thing; mainly by adding over 200 custom Perklines to the game.

HOW IT WORKS

I altered all of the Magazine Perks to be hidden, and instead signal an ActorValue to be used by PipBoyTabs, within their own Magazines Tab, which is also located underneath in the PipBoy. For all intents and purposes, you'll still have the Perks as you know them, you'll just not be able to see them as they were presented in the Perks Tab.

Magazine Perks Tab also works retroactively on established saves. This means when you load up your save, it will detect all your currently owned magazines, then assign the descriptions and Ranks of those Perks to the Magazines Tab for easy reference.

MOD COMPATIBILITY

I don't think too many mods directly alter the Perks that magazines give, so MPT should be compatible with almost every other mod. I didn't actually touch the magazines themselves, so there should be no interference with other mods that might move their locations or

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Magazine Perks Tab v1.00i is a UI mod for Fallout 4 that moves all magazine-granted perks out of the main Perks Tab into a separate, dedicated tab in the Pip-Boy. This declutters the perk list, making it easier to see your actual perk choices. With 149 endorsements and 59,264 downloads, it's a popular quality-of-life improvement for players who find the vanilla perk list cluttered.

✨ Key Features

Adds a separate tab in the Pip-Boy for all perks granted by vanilla magazines.
Removes magazine perks from the main Perks Tab to reduce clutter.
Works with all vanilla magazines included in the base game.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Clean and simple solution to a common annoyance—no more scrolling past dozens of magazine perks.
  • Solid community trust with 149 endorsements and nearly 60k downloads.
  • Lightweight UI mod that doesn't touch gameplay mechanics, so it's safe for most load orders.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only affects vanilla magazines—if you use mods that add new magazines, their perks may still clutter the main tab.
  • No screenshots or detailed instructions provided, so you're flying blind on what the new tab looks like.
  • Last updated in December 2024—fine for now, but future game updates could break it without warning.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout 4 players who hate digging through a cluttered Perks Tab to find their actual perk choices. If you're a completionist who reads every magazine you find, this mod is a must-have. Skip it if you rarely pick up magazines or don't mind the vanilla layout.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Install with a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to keep your load order clean and make uninstalling a breeze.
  • Since this mod only affects the UI, it's safe to add mid-playthrough—no need to start a new game.
  • If you use other UI mods that alter the Pip-Boy, test them together to ensure they don't conflict.
