📋 About This Mod
So, this is a variation of a preset some crazies on my discord server came up with. You start the game with 7 special points to assign, and you get an extra perk point every 7 levels.
The idea is to make the game more difficult. The original was you start with no points to assign, and no extra perk points, but that quickly proved almost impossible (at least in standard LitR), as enemies started outscaling you around level 15, and you had zero chance even to catch up, so we came up with this as an alternative
This works best with Lunar Fallout Overhaul (which makes the game scale a lot better), and True Perks (which makes perks scale a lot better), but doesn't require either of them. You just need F4SE and PerkPointsPerLevel.
Lucky 7 - Hardcore Start is a gameplay preset that reduces Special points to 7 at character creation but grants an extra perk point every 7 levels. With 135 endorsements and over 100k downloads, it's a popular challenge mod for players seeking a tougher start.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Over 100k downloads — clearly a popular choice for challenge runs
- Simple concept: fewer points at start, but steady perk gains later
- Community-tested with 135 endorsements
⚠️ Cons
- Only two features — might feel too simple for some
- Last updated in March 2023 — could be outdated for current game versions
For Fallout 4 players who want a tougher early game without overhaul mods. If you enjoy min-maxing and planning perk builds, this preset adds a nice twist. Skip if you prefer vanilla progression or want more complex gameplay changes.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Plan your build around the perk point bonus — you'll get extra perks at levels 7, 14, 21, etc.
- Since you have fewer Special points, focus on a specific playstyle rather than spreading points thin.
- Check if the mod requires a fresh save or if it works with existing characters.
