📋 About This Mod
I am a huge fan of the Fallout: New Vegas mod Light Up and Smoke Those Cigarettes
This mod simply replaces all Cigarette and Cigar products with usable versions when the player picks them up (they still show up as junk in the world and in vendor inventories unless you sell the usable versions). Cigarettes and Cigars have been given chem properties, including buffs and addictions, as follows:
+1 Perception (you're more relaxed!) +1 Charisma (you look sexy!) Autosave (this is only triggered when in Survival mode)
In addition, the player is equipped with a visible cigar or cigarette in the mouth slot for the chem effect's duration! This item will automatically disappear at the conclusion of the effect, unless it is sold or placed in a container. Note: This is NOT the equippable cigarette or cigar provided by the CigaretteInMouth mod. It simply uses the same model. So any items crafted from that mod will remain safely in your inventory at the conclusion of the effect!
UPDATES
:
- []V1. 3 - Fixed erroneous "Autosaving" message when used from Pip Boy Menu directly. Now attempts to save only when the item is used from a quickslot.
- []V1. 2 - Fixed chem effect duplication. Added optional variant download for the "Bent" cigarette model.
- []V1. 1 - Added sale values to the replaced items, something I had initially forgotten.
Copy the files into your Fallout 4 Data directory. It's not complicated, there's only one . ESP and 3 scripts!
Known Issues
:
- []The Cigar and Cigarette chems can both be active at the same time. Figured out how to do this from the Alcohol items.
- The Autosave occasionally does not happen immediately or at all. Turns out this is simply because the Autosave cannot be triggered from the menu. The chem must be set to a quickslot in order for Autosave to work. This seems incredibly obvious now that I have realized it.
This mod is made possible by the excellent CigaretteInMouth mod, which contains the cigarette and cigar models
Light Em Up 2.0 turns cigarettes and cigars into usable chems with visible player model effects, and triggers an autosave in Survival mode. A popular Fallout 4 mod (1,491 endorsements) for immersive role-play and survival convenience.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 1,491 endorsements and 159k downloads—clearly a hit.
- Adds a simple but immersive touch for role-players who want their character to smoke.
- Survival autosave is a practical bonus for those who hate losing progress.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2016—may be outdated and potentially incompatible with current game patches.
- Only affects cigarettes and cigars—if you're not into smoking, this mod has little to offer.
For Fallout 4 role-players who want their character to actually smoke and see it on the model. Also for Survival mode players who want a convenient autosave trigger. Skip if you're looking for gameplay overhauls or don't care about smoking immersion.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a simple item mod, just drop the files into your Data folder or use a mod manager like NMM.
- If you're on Survival, use the cigarette to trigger an autosave before risky encounters—it's a lifesaver.
- Check the mod's comments section for any known issues with current game versions, as it's old.
