📋 About This Mod
EPILEPSY WARNING
THE COLORIZATION PROCESS INTRODUCES SOME FLICKERING AND COLOR-INSTABILITY.
IF YOU EXPERIENCE DISCOMFORT WATCHING THESE VIDEOS, OR HAVE A HISTORY OF EPILEPSY OR SEIZURES, PLEASE LOWER THE BRIGHTNESS OF YOUR SCREEN.
DeOldify is an AI Neural Network software that is capable of colorizing black and white images using thousands of pictures as references.
I took the original video files from the Fallout 4 PC disk, and used DeOldify with the Video training model to restore the color from the FMVs.
This mod replaces the 5 main FMV files from the Fallout 4 campaign:
-
[]Intro.bk2 (The live action cinematic that plays at the beginning)
[
]Endgame_MALE_A.bk2 (The Brotherhood and Railroad endings; with the male character)[]Endgame_MALE_B.bk2 (The Institute and Minutemen endings; with the male character)
[]Endgame_FEMALE_A.bk2 (The Brotherhood and Railroad endings; with the female character)
- Endgame_FEMALE_B.bk2 (The Institute and Minutemen endings; with the female character)
They all contain the 5 original audio tracks (English, French, Italian, German and Spanish), and should be (nearly) identical in size and quality as the originals.
If you want more info about how this technology works, check out the official DeOldify github page.

It's a niche cosmetic enhancement for fans who want a fresh look at classic footage. With 349 endorsements and 8,364 downloads, it has a modest but engaged following.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-backed with 349 endorsements and over 8,000 downloads
- Breathes new life into classic FMVs—nostalgia factor is real
- AI approach means colors are consistent and plausible, not hand-painted guesswork
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects FMVs—no gameplay or texture changes
- AI colorization can sometimes look off or unnatural in certain scenes
- Last updated in 2019, so may not be compatible with newer game versions or mods
For retro gamers who want to see the original FMVs in a new light without altering gameplay. Perfect for completionists and lore enthusiasts who've seen the endings a hundred times. Skip if you're looking for gameplay overhauls or texture packs—this is purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure to back up your original FMV files before replacing them, just in case you want to revert.
- If you're using a mod manager, check if it supports file overrides for video files—otherwise manual placement is fine.
- Watch the intro and endings in order to fully appreciate the color difference—it's a trip down memory lane.
