📋 About This Mod
Basically, higher quality sound effects with less audio compression in the entire game, its DLCs and CC content.
This mod uses audio from PS4 as a source, so no AI or other processing.
Fallout 4 is a game from 2015. So in order to reduce the size of the install, Bethesda used audio compression. A pretty strong audio compression. You can really hear the compression artifacts.
PS4 version of the game features better sound quality because it uses Sony's proprietary audio format.
This mod is a port of PS4 audio to PC. It takes up much more storage, but it is definitely worth it.
If you're asking yourself: "Haven't I seen this mod already?". Yes, this is the third and final chapter in my Hi-Fi Audio mods series. It replaces sound effects (footsteps, wind, creature, etc.) with higher quality versions. It's the least impactful one out of three, but the difference can still be heard.
A file that contains sound samples is available under the misc files. You can download it and listen to the samples to decide if you want to download this mod.
Above is an animated spectrogram that visualizes the differences. As you can see, vanilla version has a lot of data missing (black blocky patches). And any sound higher than 12kHz is completely cut off.
This is a different spectrogram. Here, red represents the vanilla audio, and green is this mod's audio. As you can tell, much more audio data is preserved.
Simple version.
If you have all the DLCs, just download the main file and install it like any other mod.
If you don't own the DLCs or own only some of them, download the respective files under optional downloads.
Complex version. (if you hate .esps)
.esp files in this mod just load a .ba2 archive. So if you want, you can just add them to the SResourceArchiveList2= in your .ini file. And then delete the .esps. This will make the game load the archives without .esp files.
To do so, you need to add the names of the archives at the end of SResourceArchiveList2= in your Fallout4.ini or Fallout4Custom.ini
High-Fidelity Sounds Project replaces Fallout 4's sound effects with higher-quality PS4 audio, covering all DLCs and Creation Club content. A straightforward audio overhaul for players who want crisper, more immersive sound without changing gameplay.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community backing with 184 endorsements and over 5,200 downloads
- Covers all DLCs and CC content, so you get a complete audio overhaul in one go
- Simple concept: better sound without touching gameplay
⚠️ Cons
- Only 184 endorsements—smaller community compared to major audio overhauls, so less feedback and testing
- Last updated in February 2026—might not be compatible with future game patches or mods
- Potential conflicts with other sound mods that modify the same files
For Fallout 4 players who want a quick audio upgrade without messing with gameplay or visuals. If you're a sound purist who notices low-quality effects, this is for you. Skip if you're happy with vanilla audio or prefer more comprehensive overhauls that add new sounds.
💡 Beginner Tips
