📋 About This Mod

I know every one that has created a structure with a glass roof has been perturbed by the rain falling through. I got the inspiration from this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/36127, to fix this occlusion issue.

Further to this I wanted to credit CCMADS, the creator of many amazing mods, not the least of which is "Settlement Objects Expansion Pack". CCMADS was one of the first to tackle this rain occlusion issue. If it wasn't for their initial work I wouldn't be here doing this.

The tweaks to the files stop the rain and still have some of the shading intact so the glass isn't "crystal clear" when it is foggy, raining, snowing. They are still more clear than a non-tweaked glass roof mesh; however, this is the trade off for having the rain stop at the roof.

These tweaks stop snow as well. NOTE: one has to have a version of this mod installed: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/55934. I use Vivid Weathers so I use this version of the stop snow mod.

My mod is going to be a work in progress as there many mods that add glass roofs. Timing is going to be determined by my schedule and waiting for mod authors to give me permission to make the patches for their mods.

I use NIF Scope and Material Editor for these tweaks.

I've created a tutorial on how I make the fixes to the meshes and any materials.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solves a real annoyance: rain and snow clipping through glass roofs, making settlements feel more immersive.
  • Covers both vanilla and modded glass roofs, so it's useful for a wide range of settlement builds.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in May 2024—might not be compatible with the latest game patches or newer mods.
  • Only affects glass roofs; other transparent materials like skylights or greenhouse panels may still leak.
  • Requires manual installation or mod manager setup, and you'll need to ensure load order for patches to work correctly.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Fallout 4 settlement builders who hate seeing rain pour through their glass ceilings. If you use mods that add glass roofs, this is a must-have. Skip if you don't build with glass or don't care about weather immersion.

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If you use a mod manager like Vortex, install the main file first, then add any patches for your specific glass roof mods.
  • Check the mod's posts section for compatibility notes with popular settlement mods like Snap'n Build or Workshop Rearranged.
  • Make sure this mod loads after any mods that alter glass roof meshes to ensure the replacements take effect.
