📋 About This Mod
Adds territory bonuses to over 100 locations for Sim Settlement 2: Chapter 3's territory system.
What?
Chapter 3 of Sim Settlements 2 has a mechanic that allows you to capture nearly any location on the map that has a map marker. These locations become territories and can provide bonuses to nearby settlements. However, many locations do not provide anything by default. This addon aims to fix that by adding new bonuses.
How?
Vanilla FO4 has keywords attached to many locations. SS2 dynamically applies bonuses to these locations based on their keywords, but doesn't cover a lot of keywords by default. So I've added bonuses that do.
I also added new keywords to locations that only had very generic keywords to add bonuses. For example, the airplane crash sites now have custom keywords that let them provide Aluminum and Machine Parts.
Will this conflict with other location mods?
No, it shouldn't. New bonuses are registered through SS2's own registration system the same way that building plans and city plans and such are registered. Custom keywords are applied to locations by script. There are no overrides in this mod.
How does this affect the scrap/supply complexity setting in SS2?
SS2 automatically converts the bonus scrap/supplies to whatever setting you have. It already does this for the existing territories.
Category bonuses will be converted up to an assortment of components when playing on Component complexity.
Component bonuses will be simplified in to simple scrap/supplies or categories when playing on Simple or Categories complexity.
Does this work on DLC or mod-added locations?
Yes for DLC. Maybe, for mod-added locations.
Far Harbor and Nuka World locations are supported. Some locations in them might have already had bonuses, but now more do.
Mod-added locations will provide bonuses if they are capture-able under SS2's mechanics and have location keywords applied to them that are covered by the bonuses in SS2 or this addon pack. They even work in new worldspaces, such as Misery Island.
Will this affect locations that already have bonuses?
Yes. The new bonuses are added with the existing ones. For example, Vault 95 already provides a bonus for being a Gunner location, but will also now have the Vault bonus added by this addon pack.
These bonuses are underpowered/overpowered!
I based the new bonuses on what already exists in SS2. I may make updates to balance them. I think I put most of them a bit underpowered compared to SS2's existing bonuses because I figured some bonus is better than no bonus.
Troubleshooting
In my testing the bonuses were sometimes slow to apply on a save that already has existing player-controlled territories. Give them a minute or two. If they still don't work visit the territory a
Adds territory bonuses to over 100 locations for Sim Settlements 2: Chapter 3's territory system. A niche addon for players who want more strategic depth in settlement management, with a modest but active following (69 endorsements).
