📋 About This Mod
Equip Settler: A quality-of-life mod that brings a seamless and user-friendly "book share" system to your settlements. The mod works in the background, upgrading your settlers over time as you acquire and provide better gear.
The mod's core philosophy is to provide a powerful tool without complex menus or tedious manual tasks. By simply adding gear to a special "Settler Equipment Trunk," you can create a unique, unified look for your settlements or just random distribution.
Features
-
[]Place gear in the "Settler Equipment Trunk" and the mod’s script will automatically equip the best available items on settlers, based on their gold value.
[
]A holotape allows you to customize each trunk’s behavior. You can change the update interval and filter for Guards or Workers. The supplied ini file in the Plugins folder is for advanced usage and lets you configure factions, slots, item keywords and much more.[]Each built trunk is a self-contained system.
[]The mod uses an item’s gold value to decide on the best gear, making it compatible with other armor and weapon mods.
[]The mod addresses the fast travel bug, ensuring settlers are fully equipped when you arrive at a settlement.
[]Optional feature to make settlers run to the trunk. This is disabled by default in the ini file.
-
[]The "Settler Equipment Trunk" can be found in the workshop under the "Container" menu.
[
]The "ES Control Tape" will be in the Trunk's inventory when you build one and if you don't already have one. Use it in a terminal nearby the trunk.[]The mod only runs if the cell is active with the player inside.
[]The mod will not affect vanilla unique NPC or companions (including potential companions), but only settlers. This can be changed in the ini file.
[]Adding Pre-War money to the NPC's inventory will exclude it from the mod. The item to exclude NPC can be changed in the ini file.
Troubleshooting
-
[]Interacting with the trunk "R" will restart the settler cycle, in case it gets stuck on locked or something. This will also fresh query the ini settings for DEBUGGING and ANIMATION.
[]Enable logging in the provided ini file "DEBUGGING=true" and check the F4SE logs.
-
[]Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE)
[]This mod is compatible with F4SE for 1. 10. 163, 1. 10. 984 and 1. 11. 191.
-
[]The plugin was written using the CommonLibF4 framework, which requires this file. It allows the mod to be compatible with multiple game versions.

EquipSettler (F4SE) adds a book share system that automatically equips settlers with the best gear from a central container, simplifying settlement inventory management. With 201 endorsements and 14,640 downloads, it's a niche but proven tool for Fallout 4 players who want to outfit entire settlements efficiently.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community trust with 201 endorsements and over 14k downloads
- Saves serious time if you manage multiple settlements
- Active development—last updated February 2026
⚠️ Cons
- Requires F4SE, so you're locked out if you're on a platform that doesn't support it
- The 'best gear' logic might not always pick what you'd choose (e.g., legendary effects)
- Potential conflicts with other settlement management mods that alter settler inventories
For Fallout 4 settlement builders who are tired of manually equipping every settler. If you run large settlements and want a hands-off approach to gear distribution, this is a must-try. Skip if you prefer full control over each settler's equipment or don't use F4SE.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure F4SE is installed and launched via its script extender loader, not the default launcher.
- Place the central container in a secure, accessible spot—settlers need to path to it to grab gear.
- Test with a single settlement first to see how the 'best gear' logic works before rolling it out everywhere.
