Entrenching Tool - Standalone Melee Weapon
Information on the Entrenching Tool:
An entrenching tool, E-tool, or trenching tool is a collapsible spade used by military forces for a variety of military purposes. Survivalists, freedivers, campers, hikers and other outdoors groups have found it to be indispensable in field use. Modern entrenching tools are usually collapsible and made using steel, aluminum, or other light metals.

Adds a standalone entrenching tool melee weapon to Fallout 4, letting players go full commando. With 582 endorsements and 18,045 downloads, it's a well-received addition for melee-focused characters. Last updated in 2016, so compatibility with current game versions is unverified.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 582 endorsements and 18k downloads — clearly a hit.
- Fills a niche for melee players wanting military-style gear.
- Standalone weapon means no compatibility headaches with other mods.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2016 — may not work with the latest Fallout 4 patches or DLC.
- Only one weapon, so if you're not into melee, this is a pass.
For Fallout 4 players who love melee builds and want a military-style entrenching tool to complete their commando look. Skip if you prefer ranged combat or need modern mod features like crafting integration.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a standalone weapon, you'll likely find it in the crafting menu under melee weapons — check the workbench.
- If you're on PC, use a mod manager like Vortex to install and manage it easily.
- Given the 2016 update, test it early in your playthrough to ensure it works with your current game version.
