📋 About This Mod
After around 20 hours of effort on Audacity plus around a week pissing about with a baseball bat, a refrigerated packed ham and a microphone in my kitchen I've finally finished this mod.
mxMq12czx3w
What it does:
Carnage replaces the Impact (and some swing) effects of every melee weapon type; from Power Armor to Power Fists, Pool cues and Grognak's axe, every impact has been tailored to provide fleshy satisfaction to your blows. Generic, metal and wood impacts have also been remastered; some with brand new sounds and others simply reworked so that you can finally say goodbye to wet noodle strikes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Ethnet compatibility versions of the mod require Ethnet's Melee Sounds and Material Impact Fix in order to play additional sounds. These will not play without the esl enabled. There is no Sledgehammer compatibility version as Ethnet's mod did not affect Sledgehammers whatsoever.
What sounds are replaced?:
The following weapon types now have new sounds:
Grognak's Axe
Baseball Bat
Medium Blades
Small Blades
Boxing Glove
Deathclaw Gauntlet
Power Armor
Sledgehammer
Super Sledge jet effects
In addition to these, alternate sounds for Medium Blades and Sledgehammers have been added.
How to install: I don't recommend manual installation, so load this at the bottom of your MO2 load order below any other sound mods. Load the optional files below while overwriting the main file if you want to use the alternate sounds.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 379 endorsements and over 112k downloads — clearly a fan favorite
- Adds a brutal, visceral edge to melee combat that makes every hit feel heavier
- Lightweight audio overhaul that doesn't touch gameplay mechanics, so it's safe to add to any load order
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in September 2022 — may not be compatible with the latest game patches, so check before installing
- Only affects melee sounds; if you're looking for a full combat audio overhaul, this won't cover ranged or magic
For melee-focused players who want their sword swings and impacts to feel more brutal and satisfying. If you're a stealth archer or mage, this mod won't do much for you. Skip if you prefer vanilla sound design or want a comprehensive audio overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since this mod only changes audio, it's safe to install with a mod manager or manually — just drop the files into your Data folder.
- If you're using a mod manager, make sure to enable the mod after other audio mods to avoid conflicts.
- Test the sounds in a quick combat encounter to see if the new effects match your preference — you can always disable it if it's not to your liking.
