Point Lookout Real Performance

Description

In a nutshell, the mod disables a reflection setting when the player is in Point Lookout or other optional areas, and enables it when elsewhere.

This setting is known to be a big issue with performance in Point Lookout. Depending on hardware, expect 30% - 60% improvement in FPS. Testing showed an increase from 55 to 85 fps on a low-mid tier cpu. See image

Extra Mod Functionality

• []Other areas like the Wasteland and DLCs can have the setting dynamically modified when the player visits them.

  []Option to disable reflections entirely in all supported areas.

  []The mod can disable the setting if it detects a raining weather. This will give an extra hand in helping fps for people who use weather mods and have slight fps issues. Added because it was easy and why not.

  The Pitt also benefits a bit by changing this setting. In the images you can see an increase from around 95 to 110 fps.

  Extra Info on the Setting

  • []The setting it disables is "bForceHighDetailReflections"

    []This setting tells the game engine to render reflections for all objects.

    []This is the main reason why Point Lookout's performance is so poor.

  Results will vary depending on hardware.

  Config Options

  Everything except the Point Lookout settings are disabled by default.

  • []Option to modify reflection settings for Anchorage, the Pitt, and the Wasteland. Default: Off

    []Option to disable reflections entirely while in an individual area.  Default: Off

  • While Raining: An option in the config that will tell the script to disable high details reflections while a weather flagged as rainy is currently running. This will override any other config file settings, and will revert when rain weather finishes. Default: Off

    Config file will be located at "data\config\Drarack\PointLookoutPerformance.ini"
