📋 About This Mod
Eliminates the awkward camera wobble experienced when moving left/right while moving forward.
Description
Eliminates the camera "wobble" effect that can cause motion sickness and eye strain. Made for my own personal playthrough, but after seeing how many people have this very same issue, I decided to upload the mod.
Disclaimer: I have not tested this yet other than making sure it achieves the goal it was intended for. I plan to complete a playthrough with it soon, which should make any potential issues known, but be aware that you may experience unintended side-effects while using this mod (however unlikely).
FableExplorer ShadowNetNote: This mod was created with the default def.xml provided with FableExplorer ShadowNet in order to make it as accessible as possible to inexperienced individuals simply looking for a fix to an annoying issue. If you have updated your def.xml in the past, you may want to revert to the version provided with FableExplorer ShadowNet in order to avoid metadata issues that can cause crashes. If this is your first time installing FableExplorer ShadowNet, you can ignore this.1) Open FableExplorer
2) If no .bin locations are loaded in the upper-left window by default, select File -> Open, and load, in this order:
...steamapps\common\Fable The Lost Chapters\data\CompiledDefs\names.bin
...steamapps\common\Fable The Lost Chapters\data\CompiledDefs\game.bin
(You may need to make sure File Explorer is looking for .bin files in the bottom-right in order to see these!)
3) Select File -> Load Fable Mod Package, and select FableTLC-CameraWobbleRemover.fmp
4) Select Actions -> Save Mods and Run Fable. Fable should now launch. If you get an Unhandled Exception error window, this is fine - FableExplorer was just unable to find the Fable executable. So long as your .bin files are loaded when the mod was applied, the mod should be installed. You should not need to reproduce these steps in the future, simply launching Fable will load the game and the mod.
ChocolateBox
I am not experienced with ChocolateBox, but if you have a strong preference for it, you probably already know how to apply a .fmp file. You may need to use the def.xml provided with FableExplorer ShadowNet to avoid metadata issues, but YMMV.
Originally, I assumed the issue was within some camera settings, but experimenting with these produced no results. Upon noting that the issue occurred only on movement, I went into PLAYER_MOVEMENT within game.bin, and opened MOVEMENT_DEFAULT. After further experimentation, it seemed to be an issue with three parameters:
LeanAngleTurnFactor
LeanAngleLimitAngle
LeanAngleStepPerFrame
Setting each of these to 0 resolved the camera wobble. To make sure I wasn't seeing things, I tripled their original values to test, and it was excruciating to look at, confirming my hypothesis. It seems that Fable is adds some extra "oomph" to the camera when the hero turns/leans mid-movement. Of course, this causes many people (like myself) to have issues with motion sickness and eye strain. There is still some very slight movement when the wobble would normally occur, but I suspect this is just the camera attempting to center on the player character's head.
