Dear Charles

MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR YOUNGER PLAYERS. COULD BE A PAINFUL TRIGGER FOR ANYONE WHO HAS HAD EXPERIENCE WITH BEING KIDNAPPED OR LOST SOMEONE TO KIDNAPPING. Your friend, Charles, borrowed something from you the other day and you’ve just arrived at his house to retrieve it. He told you that he wasn’t sure when he would be getting home, so you could use his spare key to get in. While you’re there, however, you notice something suspicious that leads you to suspect that Charles did something bad. You decide to take a little look around to see if there’s anything else that might point to your friend’s guilt. The story is designed for single-player, but not the room itself. The room might still present some issues with co-op, like certain audio not playing for a player(s), but it should still be functional. The room is designed so that the puzzles support the story that is being told and the mystery that is being solved, so they aren’t meant to be particularly complicated. However, some parts might not be particularly obvious, especially if it’s something that doesn’t unlock until a particular sequence of events has occurred. The guide is formatted so that you can mouse over each step as you need to read it without being spoiled on further steps. Each step in the guide is presented in two ways. The first line will be a prompt that fits with the narrative of the story. The second line will be more direct guidance. EDIT: This was my first escape room and I was learning as I went, if you couldn't tell. The way I built it makes it really hard to go in and change or fix things that don't work smoothly, so I'll likely leave this room as it is. I'm leaving it here mostly for sentimentality: it was my first room. My second room, The Mayor's Gala, is better designed and less likely to break. Thank you for checking out this map, in any case! I appreciate it.
