📋 About This Mod
This is a little workaround I came up with to get a workable first-person mode in my game, as ERFPS is currently missing some functionality for a lot of us, especially those playing convergence. All it does is make the bow/crossbow aiming
This is a simple mod to make the ranged weapon crosshairs invisible. I made it for personal use because ERFPS doesn't work fully for me, I'm encountering an error where the attack indicators won't disappear from the screen and also stack up, making it unplayable after the first fight I get into. The ini file that comes with the mod also isn't applying the settings changes for some of us for arcane reasons, so turning them off in the ini file doesn't actually remove them in game.
In the same vein as this, I had the idea that the ERFPS mod is calling a vanilla texture from the base game and using it as a serviceable UI element for an attack indicator. Making that texture blank should still let the mod use the attack indicators, it just wouldn't show up in-game, as the texture would be nothing. That being said, I have no idea which specific texture ERFPS uses for the attack indicator. If ANYONE out there knows which texture it is and can point me in the right direction, I'll gladly test my theory. The bounty I offer is only my respect and gratitude, as I'm all tapped out in favors and finances for the holidays.
Along the way, though, I went ahead and made the ranged crosshair blank so that I could have a serviceable first person point of view in the game. The way it works is simply by using a ranged weapon, two handing it, and using the aim button. There you go, you're now viewing the world from your Tarnished eyes, unobstructed. I played with a very similar mod made for Witcher 3, and a simple change of perspective can do so much.
To install this mod, you need to unpack "01_common.tpf.dcx" (no quotes) with Yabber, which should create a working folder with the Menu UI textures in it. Then you drag over my blank reticle to the working folder, replacing the "SB_Reticle.dds" in the original. Then you drag the working folder back onto Yabber and it will repack it for you with the invisible reticle. I'd upload my common.tpf, but it's based off of Convergence, so it has a lot of funky stuff in it that probably doesn't apply to you. Additionally, if you just don't like the crosshair anyway, this is the mod for you.
