SoulsChat adds a simple, direct text chat system.

How it works

• []SteamSDK Integration: Uses native Steam Networking (P2P).[/]

  []Direct Communication: Messages are sent directly to other mod users in your session. No central server handles your chat messages.[/]

  []Auto-Discovery: It automatically finds other SoulsChat users in your game session. When someone with the mod joins the session, you will receive a system message.[/]

  Text Filtering

  SoulsChat uses the Steam Text Filtering API to manage chat content.

  • []Control via Steam: Your chat filter settings are controlled directly by your Steam Client settings.[/]

  How the filtering works

  Filtering is applied only on incoming messages, not outgoing ones.

  This means:

  • []When you send a message, you will still see it normally in your chat.[/]

    []However, the recipient may see the message as filtered if they have selected the 'Filter strong profanity and slurs' option, or have added words from your message to their custom filter list.[/]

  In other words, filtering is client-side and personalized,  each player controls what words are filtered in their own chat.

  Note: To be honest, Steam chat filtering is not that strong. I highly recommend

  adding custom words yourself. The best approach is to add the target language text file.

  A ban system is implemented to protect the community from spam and harassment.

  • []Purpose: To keep the chat clean and positive for all users. (So make sure you report anyone who deserves a ban.)[/]
  Note: If you report someone, the entire chat will be sent to the developer for review, and appropriate action will be taken.
