📋 About This Mod

Reduce enemy stagger so groups of players can't easily stagger-lock enemies.

Are you enjoying seamless co-op with some friends, but you noticed that enemies are trivially easy when your group surrounds and stagger-locks them? You've come to the right place!

This mod's default option makes it much harder to stagger enemies. In other words, most of your attacks will not interrupt an enemy's attack. Strong staggers (like throwing enemies in the air while on horseback) are still allowed. There is another option for absolutely no enemy stagger if that's more your style.

To clear up any potential confusion:

  • []Staggering means interrupting an attack animation. This is what makes it so easy to stagger-lock enemies in normal seamless co-op.

[]Stance-breaking is not the same thing as staggering. You can still stance-break enemies and get critical hits.

    Can this ban me?

If you try to play with the anti-cheat enabled, then yes. However, you will not be banned if you only play without the anti-cheat (like when playing seamless co-op).

    Installation

    • []Open Elden Ring's "Game" folder (Use Steam's "Browse local files" button to get there quickly).

[]Rename the original "regulation.bin" to something else. (Don't worry if you lose it, as you can always verify integrity of game files to get it back.)

[]Put the new "regulation.bin" in the same location as the original.

An easy way to add this to an already-modded regulation.bin

If you're already using a modded regulation.bin, then you'll need to use Smithbox to either:

      • []merge this mod's regulation.bin with yours (look up how to do this),

[]or import this mod's CSV file into your regulation.bin (see below).

Here's how to import the CSV file:

        • []Open a DSMapStudio project with your modded regulation.bin.

[]Go to the "Param Editor" tab.

          []Select the "AtkParam_Pc" parameter.

[]Click "Edit" -> "Import CSV" -> "From file..." -> "Specific Field" -> "dmgLevel".

[]Select the CSV file you downloaded.

          []Save.

Your modded regulation.bin should now include this mod!

          How this mod works

This mod works by setting most (or all, depending on which version you download) of the "dmgLevel" values in "AtkParam_Pc" to 0. Here's every possible value alongside my notes. The stagger values I categorized as "weak" are the ones set to 0 in the mod's default option.

          []0: None (completely disables stagger)

[]1: No Stagger (still allows some kind of stagger; weak?)

[]2: Short Stagger (name makes sense; weak)

[]3: Long Stagger (not much longer than 2; weak)

[]4: Stagger to Floor (name makes
