📋 About This Mod
You'll only need to spend the materials to craft an item once before you can craft it at no cost forever!
If you struggle to engage with the crafting system in Elden Ring because you're afraid of the limited materials and grindy nature of obtaining more, this might be the mod for you! Personally I basically never craft in the game because in the back of my mind I know I'll have to go spam rest at a grace next to some Scarlet Buds if I want to craft Hefty Rot Pots for casual use. But I also don't want crafting to be 100% free from the start, since that would completely devalue every crafting material in the game. So I created a mod where crafting an item once permanently unlocks the ability to craft it again at no further cost.
How does it work?
It might be sort of weird to adjust to at first, so I figure I should explain how you should actually use this mod. When you open up your crafting menu, instead of seeing the direct recipes for the items you want to craft, you'll see a different category of crafting recipes called "Material" recipes. For example, you'll see "Fire Grease Materials" which costs 1x Root Resin and 1x Smoldering Butterfly. "Fire Grease Materials" is a non-functional key item that, when crafted, will unlock a new crafting recipe (that costs 0 materials) for the normal functional Fire Grease. Note that when you craft "Fire Grease Materials" you may have to reopen the crafting menu for the Fire Grease recipe to appear.
Installation
-
[]You should first have ModEngine 2 installed, if you don't have that then go and get that first.
[
]Drop the "regulation.bin" file, "msg" folder, and "event" folder into your mod directory.Alternative Installations (regulation.bin)
[]If your mod folder already has a "regulation.bin" file or already modifies the "msg" files, I've provided .csv files and .json files to manually merge it into your existing mod files. If you have experience with modding you probably already know how to do this, but if you don't know how to do that, here's my guide:
[]Download Smithbox from here: https://github.com/vawser/Smithbox/releases
[]Create or open a project file with your regulation.bin in it, navigate over to the "Param Editor" tab at the top. This should display a list of Params on the left-hand side.
[]Scroll down the list of Params and click on EquipMtrlSetParam.
[]Click the "Data" button at the very top of the screen. This will open a drop-down menu where you should select the following options: Import CSV -> From file -> All fields.
[]The file explorer should have automatically opened, and at this point you should select the EquipMtrlSetParam.csv file you downloaded from this mod.
[*]After selecting the .csv, you've successfully merged one file! Now it's time to import the ShopLineupParam_Recipe.csv file, so click on the ShopLineupParam_Recipe tab in Smithbox. You will see entries with IDs ranging from 1 to about 37000, select them all and del
