📋 About This Mod

VR for ELDEN RING with reimagined combat: native stereo OpenXR rendering, 6DoF head tracking, first person with hand-tracked weapons and physical melee, full motion-controller input, floating HUD.

Description

Ilya's ERVR is a free native VR mod for ELDEN RING. It renders the game into your OpenXR headset, either as a head locked cinema screen or as full stereo with one image per eye, and adds 6DoF head tracking, a first person mode where the weapon follows your hand, physical melee, motion controller input, and a HUD that floats in world space on its own layer.

Combat is being rebuilt around the controllers: damage comes from how fast the blade is actually moving, heavy weapons have weight, shields block by where you hold them, and two-handing is grabbing the hilt.

ERVR runs as a ReShade add-on and opens its own OpenXR session.

Offline play only. ERVR injects into eldenring.exe and writes game memory. Never run it with Easy Anti-Cheat enabled or while connected to online play. Doing so risks a permanent ban, and that is on you. Multiplayer and anti-cheat are not supported and will not be.

Installation instructions

  • []Download the zip from the Files tab.[/]

[]Unpack it into your ELDEN RING\Game folder, next to eldenring.exe. You should end up with these files:

    []dxgi.dll (ReShade 6. 8. 0 add-on build, bundled and unmodified)[/]

    []ReShade.ini (ReShade defaults)[/]

    []dinput8.dll (ERVR's proxy loader)[/]

    []ERVR\ERVR.dll (the mod)[/]

    []ERVR\ERVR.ini (configuration, reloads while playing)[/]

[/]

[]If you had R. E. A. L. VR installed, delete its dxgi.dll, RealVR64.dll, openvr_api.dll, cudart64_12.dll and RealVR.ini first. R. E. A. L. and ReShade both use dxgi.dll and cannot coexist.[/]

[]If you already use ReShade, keep your own ReShade.ini, but dxgi.dll must be an add-on support build (6. 8 or newer).[/]

[]If you already use a dinput8.dll mod loader such as ELDEN MOD LOADER, keep it and put ERVR.dll in its mods folder instead.[/]

[]Set your headset's OpenXR runtime as the active one (Oculus for Link and Air Link, VDXR for Virtual Desktop, or SteamVR). Launch the game offline with EAC disabled and put the headset on.[/]

[]If something fails, read Game\ERVR\ERVR.log. It should contain " registered as add-on" and "Active VR backend: openxr". If the lines never appear, the dxgi.dll in your Game folder is not the bundled one.[/]

Your antivirus may flag ERVR.dll or dxgi.dll. ERVR.dll injects into a running process, and dxgi.dll is ReShade's unsigned add-on build, so both detections are generic. The bundled dxgi.dll is identical to the ReShade64.dll inside ReShade_Setup_6. 8. 0_Addon.exe from reshade.me, and you can compare the two files yourself. If you prefer, download that installer and use its dxgi.dll instead of the bundled copy.

Main features

Stereo rendering into any OpenXR headset, one image per eye, or a head locked cinema screen if you prefer that. 6DoF head tracking.

First person with the weapon attached to your right controller.

Physical melee. In first person, a swing does not press a button. ERVR fires the game's own attack event on your character while the controller is moving, so the weapon in your hand is the hitbox. Damage, poise, status effects and stamina cost all come from the game's own rules. See the Combat section below.

Motion attacks in third person. Swing the right hand for a light or heavy attack depending on swing speed. Swing the left hand for parry, shield bash or offhand attack.

Controllers replace the gamepad. Every Touch control is mapped to XInput and the mapping is configurable. No physical gamepad has to be plugged in.

Haptics. Game rumble is sent to the controllers, and gesture attacks get a pulse on hit.

Tap and hold layers. A tap on the menu button is START, a hold opens the map. A tap on the left stick click is crouch, and holding it while tilting the stick acts as the D-pad for quick slots.

Movement options: locomotion relative to where the left controller points, and snap turn.

Hand aim (experimental): camera yaw and pitch follow the right controller while you hold the grip.

HUD on its own layer. The in game UI is taken out of the rendered frame and shown as a flat quad in world space, at the distance and size you set.

Hot reload. Edit ERVR\ERVR.ini while playing and the change applies within about a second.

Combat

The aim is that your arms are the attack. In first person, ERVR never presses R1 or R2 for a swing. While your controller is moving, it fires the game's own attack event on your character every frame instead. The game then does what it does for any attack: it looks up the equipped weapon's attack row, sweeps the weapon's hitbox along the blade (which follows your hand), and applies damage, poise damage, status buildup and hitstop. No attack animation plays, nothing locks you in place, and the weapon you see connect is the
