📋 About This Mod
A thorough remodel and recolor of the Fingerprint Set with the goal of restoring it as closely as possible to how it might have appeared before Knight Vyke was clasped by the Three Fingers.
What did I change?
-
[]Symmetrized the set's beautiful and unique armet-style helm.
[
]Remodeled the armor's breastplate using undamaged sections on either side as reference for the opposite damaged side—resulting in a model that effectively looks exactly like it would have before the melting damage occurred.[]From the shoulder down, symmetrized pauldrons, upper cannons, couters, and lower cannons, bestowing maximum full plate on both arms
[]From head to toe, completely recolored every inch of the set, removing a significant amount of the original rust patches, stains, and rippling meant to appear as though caused by extreme heat. Though maybe not quite brand-new mint condition, my recolor makes the armor look far, far newer and more polished.
[]Two cloak options are provided: a cloak with the collar mesh removed, and the original cloak which bears only a single pauldron in homage to the original armor design (but the rest of the left arm still has plate elements in my version, unlike the original)
[]This armor does not get stained at all. Due to my (unfortunately necessary) use of Symmetrize in Blender to mirror certain armor parts, blood/grime/other stain textures were appearing symmetrical even on meshes whose actual textures I re-wrapped so that they wouldn't be symmetrical. It is a very glaring imperfection that becomes noticeable very quickly as you play and accumulate stains, and we don't know how to edit stain textures directly as a community to de-symmetrize them; so instead I wrote a script to reset all face data on every piece of the armor while retaining UVs, a brute force method of ensuring stains don't know where to map anymore but textures still do. I know it may be a little disappointing that you can't spatter this shiny armor with muck, but I promise this is a far better-looking option than leaving the symmetrical stains in (they look like a weird glitchy fractal pattern and are especially distracting when using lanterns or other portable light sources in low-light environments).
Why no left-side tasset?
I intentionally chose to maintain the single physics-enabled tasset hanging off of the right side of the fauld, rather than try to make it look like there are tassets on both sides. Here's why:
[]The armature of the Fingerprint Armor model only has a cloth bone for the right-side tasset; this means that, while it would certainly be possible to duplicate the existing tasset mesh and mirror it so that it appears on the opposite side, there would be no way to give that mesh physics because it is not possible with the tools available to modders to create a duplicate mirored cloth bone—and unfortunately a mesh must be weighted to a cloth bone in order for its physics to work.
[]Since it would be weird to have only one of them be physics-enabled, one might
