Active Buff Timer - Elden Ring 1.17.1 Tarnished Edition

Description

Active Buff Timer adds a lightweight on-screen overlay that shows your currently active buffs and their remaining duration.

The overlay automatically resizes depending on how many buffs are active and uses a transparent light-purple background so it does not block your view.

It supports buffs from the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree and is tested on Elden Ring version 1. 17. 1.

Installation instructions

INSTALLATION - BEGINNER FRIENDLY

1. Download and install Mod Engine 2 for Elden Ring.

2. Open your Mod Engine 2 folder.

This is the folder that contains files such as:

modengine2_launcher.exe

launchmod_eldenring.bat

config_eldenring.toml

3. Open the Active Buff Timer ZIP file.

4. Copy these TWO files into your main Mod Engine 2 folder:

AdamBuffTimer.dll

BuffTimerReader.dll

Keep both DLL files in the SAME folder.

5. In your Mod Engine 2 folder, find:

config_eldenring.toml

6. Right-click config_eldenring.toml and open it with Notepad.

7. Find the section called:

external_dlls

"AdamBuffTimer.dll"

external_dlls = [

"AdamBuffTimer.dll"

9. IMPORTANT:

Do NOT add BuffTimerReader.dll to external_dlls.

BuffTimerReader.dll only needs to be sitting next to AdamBuffTimer.dll.

AdamBuffTimer.dll loads it automatically.

10. If you already use other DLL mods, DO NOT delete them.

For example, if you already have:

external_dlls = [

"AnotherMod.dll"

change it to:

external_dlls = [

"AnotherMod.dll",

"AdamBuffTimer.dll"

11. Save config_eldenring.toml.

12. Launch Elden Ring using your normal Mod Engine 2 launcher.

13. When you enter the game, the ACTIVE BUFFS box should appear on screen.

If the box says "Reader not connected", make sure AdamBuffTimer.dll and BuffTimerReader.dll are both inside the main Mod Engine 2 folder.

- Supports weapon buffs, greases, spells, incantations, consumables, Physick effects, talisman effects, armor effects, and other temporary buffs.

- Supports both right-hand and left-hand weapon buffs.

- Merges matching right-hand and left-hand versions into one clean entry.

- Correctly distinguishes Shriek of Milos from normal Barbaric Roar.

- Some area effects, such as Terra Magica and Holy Ground, display as ACTIVE instead of using a countdown.

- Stacking effects can show their current stage.

- The overlay is click-through, so it will not interfere with normal gameplay.

- Includes a SUPPORTED BUFFS.txt file with the full list of supported effects.

- Tested on Elden Ring App Ver. 1. 17. 1

AdamBuffTimer.dll must be added to the external_dlls list inside config_eldenring.toml.

BuffTimerReader.dll must be placed in the same Mod Engine 2 folder as AdamBuffTimer.dll, but it should NOT be added to external_dlls.

This mod is intended to be launched through Mod Engine 2.
