T80-UD

T-80 Main Battle Tank A third-generation main battle tank developed by the Soviet Union in the 1970s The T-80 Main Battle Tank (English: T-80 Main Battle Tank; Russian nickname: Летающий Танк, literally "Flying Tank") is a third-generation main battle tank developed by the Soviet Union in the 1970s. Derived from the T-64 Main Battle Tank, it is the first mass-produced main battle tank in history powered by a gas turbine engine. Equipped with a 985-horsepower gas turbine modified from an aviation gas turbine engine, the engine features small size, high power, quick start-up, light weight, high reliability, and easy replacement. In terms of weaponry, the tank is armed with a 125mm smoothbore gun, a 7. 62mm machine gun, and a 12. 7mm anti-aircraft machine gun, along with an automatic loader. On August 6, 1976, the T-80 Main Battle Tank was officially commissioned into the Soviet Army. Mass production began in 1976, with over 7,500 units produced. By early 1996, the Russian military had equipped 5,000 units. In recent years, Russia has promoted the T-80U tank worldwide, conducting demonstration tests in many countries. Since the research, development, and production units of the T-80 were distributed across the Soviet Union (Russia) and Ukraine, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia and Ukraine independently continued to develop the T-80 series, leading to new models
