More Keybinds

Overview

The game lacks the ability to change some key bindings and also forces players to use a clunky wheel or single hotkey to cycle through items. This mod remedies that. While there are multiple mods that address this, I wanted to have the ability to change the key bindings on the fly.

  Install

  • []Download either the single or dual (game default) hotkey mod

    [](Optional) Make a backup of the existing /Dying Light The Beast/ph_ft/source/data_lang/dataen.pak file. This mod adds some new localization strings (nothing existing is modified). The backup allows quicker reverting if you decide to uninstall

    []Extract and move the contents of the zip to your installation folder: /Dying Light The Beast/ph_ft/source/. You may need to overwrite dataen.pak (Note: See FAQ below if you have another mod that uses data2.pak)

    []Launch the game

    []By default, all custom key bindings, except for ones that already existed, default to nothing ([])

    []Set your new key bindings or leave them untouched. (Note: you can't unset key binds, and most will error if there is a conflict. Beast mode is the only one exempt from conflicts)

    []Save your key bindings

    []Memorize your new key bindings

    []Enjoy!

    Uninstall

    [] Important! The game will continue to use some key bindings even after uninstalling. Those are Beast Mode, Vehicle Controls, Camouflage, and Menu Navigation. So, make sure to revert to defaults or something else before uninstalling

    []Delete data2.pak or whatever you named it, or remove the changes from any merged file you created
