📋 About This Mod
I have no idea what I'm doing, but I think I solved most of the easily-fixable problems with this game :)I need some help with the rest though!
NEED SOME HELP FIXING THIS GAME! If you are a modder or programmer and/or - unlike me - actually know what you're doing, please take a look at the "known issues" section and leave a comment if you know how to fix any of those!
Dying Light 2, much like the first game, is like a well-made but untuned ukulele with a broken string or two (the story) in place of the sick guitar that we all wanted when we bought this game. The core foundation of the game is fantastic, it's nearly phenomenal. But the tuning of numerous game mechanics are inexcusably bad, which is a huge shame. The piss poor stor- I mean, the writing, is so bad it's funny, but those aforementioned game mechanics are just frustrating and unfun. I tried my hand at fixing that. The game is easier as a consequence, which is not necessarily intended - what -is- intended is for the player to be able to git gud, rather than just having to deal with the game's janky systems regardless of skill.
In a shellnut:
You can now spend your time on game completion instead of farming and grinding repetitively like you were playing Runescape in 2005. The economy is now (too easy, but) functional, traversing the map (with a fully-upgraded grappling hook and paraglider) is now (somewhat overpowered, but) is now really fun and no longer a timesink, the health economy and thereby combat in general is no longer complete crap, using the binoculars to discover new locations will no longer increase your risk of contracting arthritis (probably), volatiles now present the challenge that they appear to be rather than having an arbitrarily large health pool, you can pickup any and all arrows that you fire, all crafting recipes make more sense and have more output to balance out the fact that they are a relatively superfluous game element that you don't need to engage with at all, and more.
This game had so many problems that I ended up making so many 'personal tweaks' that I made this overhaul by accident. I now figure it's a shame that I'm the only one who has it, so now all of you can have it too :)
The mod changes quite a few important files, so if the current game version is higher than 1. 15, chances are something has broken or some of the new content in the game will be overwritten. If I haven't updated the mod, you'll need to merge the new changes yourself! Guide to do that in the articles.
===Installation===
1. Drop data6.pak and (optionally) data5.pak into <game's root directory>ph>source.
1. 5 If you already have a mod with a conflicting name, you can either overwrite, rename, or manually merge the files. Dying Light 2 supports mod names "dataX", where X is a number anywhere between 2 and 7.
2. That's it. If you want to make your own changes, you can either open up the .pak files with WinRar/7Zip, or rename
