Setup: Open Steam > Library > Right click DL2 > Properties > General > DISABLE Steam Cloud. (this is so the cloud version doesn't overwrite the new one)
Note: You can re enable steam cloud AFTER you install the new save and load into the main menu.
1.) Create a folder on your desktop named DL2 Backup.
- Next copy and paste your original save file(s) into the desktop DL2 Backup folder.
Save location:
STEAM: Program files(x86)/Steam/userdata/top folder/534380/remote/out/save
EPIC GAMES: %userprofile%/Documents/dying light 2/out/storage/
2.) Create a new game save.
Launch DL2 > Create a new game > Finish cutscene >Quit > Close Game
3.) Open your save folder and find the save game you just created.
Go To: Program files(x86)/Steam/userdata/top folder/534380/remote/out/save
- Look at the "date modified" to match which one of the save files is the one you just created.
3-1.) Once you identify the new save. remember its name. (mainly the number)
- Example: save_main_1
(the number could be 1, 2 or 3. Just depends how many saves you have)
- Delete the newly created save. (save_main_1)
3-2.) Drag my file save_main_3 into your save folder and rename it to match the save you just deleted. (in this example you would change the 3 to a 1)
4.) Launch DL2 > Load Game
- You should see your newly added save(s)
- Works on all versions 1. 24. 2+
- Dying Light by default converts all saves to work on the most recent build. They do this at the main menu when they detect a save is from an older build.
