The Lost Mine of Phandelver: 3-1 Redbrand Hideout

The Lost Mine of Phandelver: 3-1 Redbrand Hideout The Redbrand’s base in Phandalin is an underground complex beneath the Tresendar Manor. Before it fell into ruins, its cellars served as a secure storehouse for food and water in the hypothetical case that the estate was attacked, while an adjoining crypt provided a resting place for the deceased members of the Tresendar family. The Redbrand has expanded the cellars to suit their own purposes, adding a slave pen, workshops, and barracks. General Features The hideout consists of several well-constructed underground chambers with tiled floors and walls of carved stone blocks. The west end of the complex is lower than the east, with steps descending as the characters explore. CEILINGS. The tunnels and chambers are 10 feet high unless otherwise indicated. DOORS. All doors are made of wood with iron handles and hinges and integrated locks. They will not be locked unless the text determines so. Iarno Albrek (area 12) and the Bugbear called Mosk (area 9) each carry an iron key that can open and close every lock in the complex. A locked door can be forced with thief’s tools and a successful Dexterity check DC 10. It can also be knocked down with a successful Strength check DC 20. SECRET DOORS. An “S” on the map of the Redbrand hideout indicates the location of a secret door. LIGHT. Many areas are brightly lit by oil lamps placed with sconces on the walls, refilled every few hours as needed.
