River and Marsh DAM Challenge

Five hundred years ago a river burst its banks and flooded the surrounding area creating a vast marshland, the Evermere. Villages and farms were swallowed up by the water which pooled in the hollows of the landscape. At sunset the low cold mists rise from the pools and creep along the ground. The insects swarm, making an easy meal for the numerous carnivorous plants. Screech Leeches and Boghoppers (copyright Cawood Publishing, 2022) prowl the waterways waiting for unsuspecting travellers who pass through. Woe betide those who choose to explore the ruins or camp in the marsh. As the sun drops below the horizon, the blue flames, souls of those who lost their lives here, rise out of the ground, waiting to lure travellers to their doom. .
