📋 About This Mod

Vagabond Starter Swap

With Bonus Mage Flair!

This is a swap for the mage starter armor, the Worn Robes, into an adaptation of the Vagabond edits from my Footsoldier's Armaments Edits mod. It comes in two basic edits, one with new special flair just for mages and the other being a direct port of the most suitable armor for a mage from that mod. This mod is modular, so you can mix and match your appearance to an extent.

This mod replaces the Worn Robes and works for all Rooks, regardless of body type or lineage. It is a bundle mod, so no need for a swap library. Just install using the directions below!

Speaking of special flair, I stole the accoutrements from the Battle Robes (the Book, Scrolls & Pouch) and added them to this armor for a special mage-centric design. You can use all three items, or you can use just the Scrolls & Pouch if you don't like the way the book clips into Rook's right arm.

This armor is intended to be minimalist, but it still has style. Check out the images for a better idea of the range of this armor! Please make sure to read the installation instructions below to get your Rook looking just right!

I've also included all the MODDER'S RESOURCES needed to make your own custom retextures if that's more your style, so have fun!

NOTE: THIS MOD IS MODULAR! Please read the following to learn how to use the mod!

This mod has three parts as explained below:

  • []BASE EDIT - The Base Edit determines what other files you will use to build your look. These can be used as a standalone mod or can be used in combination with the extra files listed below for further options. Use only one Base Edit file at a time! There are two base edits available:

    a. NEW Basic Vagabond - A basic armor design with no metal and four sleeve options. You must use this or the Vagabond Base Edit if you want to add the Mage Flair to your look, however, it also looks fine with no flair at all!

    b. Vagabond - A basic armor design with a minimum of metal and four sleeve options. You must use this or the Basic Vagabond Base Edit if you want to add the Mage Flair to your look, however, it also looks fine with no flair at all!

    c. Stylish Vagabond - A basic armor design with a bit more practicality and four sleeve options. Instead of mage tools of the trade, it has several pouches to store all that free stuff Rook keeps picking up. You cannot use this Base Edit with the Mage Flair options as the parts will clip into each other, so make sure you use the 'No Flair' option only when using this Base Edit

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

A cosmetic mod that swaps the Worn Robes mage starter outfit for variations of the author's Vagabond armors, adding a mage-themed flair. With 22 endorsements and 852 downloads, it's a niche choice for players wanting a fresh look early in the game.

✨ Key Features

Replaces the Worn Robes mage starter outfit with Vagabond armor variations.
Adds bonus mage flair to the replacement outfits.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Small but active community (22 endorsements) — a niche pick for early-game fashion.
  • Simple concept: if you like the Vagabond armor style, this gives your mage a head start.
  • Recently updated (Nov 2025), so likely compatible with current game version.

⚠️ Cons

  • Only 22 endorsements — not a widely tested mod, so expect potential bugs.
  • No screenshots or detailed description — you're flying blind on what the armors actually look like.
  • Replaces the starter outfit only — if you're past the intro, this mod has limited use.
🎯 Is This For You?
For players who want to ditch the default mage robes and start with a more rugged, Vagabond-inspired look. Skip if you're not a fan of the Vagabond armor aesthetic or if you're already past the early game.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it replaces the Worn Robes, make sure you haven't already acquired a different outfit before installing — the change applies to the base item.
  • If you're using a mod manager, enable this mod after any other armor mods to ensure the replacement takes effect.
  • Check the mod's comments section for any user-reported issues, as the description is sparse.
