📋 About This Mod
DAO's Armored Ogre (DA2's Ogre Replacement)
- x-o-x-o-x-o-x-o-x-
- - Added an alternative version without the textures for those who want to use beeto's retextures (here) for the Armored Ogre (recommanded). Delete the other version if you plan to use this one.
- - Added The Architect's models (see instructions in the files please, it is important).
- - Version 2 - Sorry I re-uploaded the file. There was a conflict with another apr_base.gda.
- - Version 1 - Release.

Description: This mod simply replaces the DA2's Ogre version with the armored one from Awakening (I found this unused model in the game's files). Many people complained about the new look of Ogres. Now you can have the armored one from DAO if you wish.
If you have any suggestions, feel free to share. Enjoy!

Installation: Extract "Armored Ogre Replacement.erf" and "apr_base_ogre.gda" from the RAR file and simply put them into your "Dragon Age 2\packages\core\override" folder.
-x-o-x-o-x-o-x-o-x-
Requirements: It's a standalone. Nothing is required to make it work.
-x-o-x-o-x-o-x-o-x-
Un-installation: Delete "Armored Ogre Replacement.erf" and "apr_base_ogre.gda" from your override folder.

Incompatibility: Surely there will be a conflict if you have a mod that changes the Ogre's appearance (but I doubt it). No need to delete a simple retexture however: this mod changes the model so it won't be a problem. If it doesn't work for you, please let me know.

Known issues: Except some clippings with its armor? :P None.

You can use this mod for your own, no credits needed since I only restored an unused model.

This mod replaces the Ogre model in Dragon Age II with the armored Ogre from Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. It's a simple cosmetic swap for players who prefer the original design. With 518 endorsements and over 12,000 downloads, it's a popular choice for DA2 players seeking a visual change.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 518 endorsements and 12k downloads — clearly a lot of people wanted this.
- Straightforward visual upgrade: the Awakening Ogre looks way more menacing than the vanilla DA2 one.
- Zero hassle — it's a model swap, so no new mechanics to learn or balance to worry about.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2011 — might not work with the latest DA2 patches or DLC without tweaks.
- Only affects the Ogre model — if you wanted more creature variety, this isn't it.
For Dragon Age II players who miss the armored Ogre design from Awakening and want a quick visual refresh. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes or new creatures — this is purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Back up your original Ogre files before replacing them, so you can revert if needed.
- Check the mod's file structure — you'll likely need to drop the files into your Dragon Age II 'override' folder.
- If the mod doesn't work, make sure you're placing files in the correct directory (usually Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age 2/packages/core/override).
