A shield just like the ones used by King Cailan's soldiers. Only better! (Think of it as a gift from the king.)

A discussion on BSN regarding this shield model planted the seed for this mod. Reviewing some screencaps, and realizing that the shield in question was the one carried by Cailan's guard sent me running for the toolset. And the lack of enhancements to the vanilla shield prompted me to spruce up the stats a bit.

On the first load after the strategy meeting with Cailan and Loghain, "The King's Shield" will spawn in inventory.

At spawning, the shield will be Tier 3 (Steel). The tier can be improved as the player character levels, in the usual way.

The stats are the same as those of Bulwark of the True King (DA:O version):

+3 willpower

+2 constitution

To spawn additional copies of the shield, use the following console command (omitting the quotes): 'runscript give_tsm_kings_shield'

None, at least that I encountered in my admittedly brief testing.

Because the material of this shield is not fixed, the colouration will shift as the tier of the item improves. The appearance will often differ from the shields equipped by Cailan's guard, as they are fixed at Silverite (Tier 6).

As far as I am able to determine, the vanilla version of the "King's Shield" is not obtainable in-game, nor does any information in the item appear on the Dragon Age Wiki. The item code for the original version is "gen_im_arm_shd_twr_kng.uti"; the description reads "These are carried only by soldiers of the king's army."
