📋 About This Mod
Maric's Blade Blues, v. 2. 0
File under: Lore. It's a thing.
Requires Return to Ostagar DLC! (And optionally, for the Starfang swap, Warden's Keep.)
"The entire weapon was a pale ivory hue, the hilt wrought with gentle curves and the blade inlaid with brightly glowing runes. It was untouched by rust, and the blue glow from the runes was almost brighter than the light from their torches. Maric swung it about gently, his eyes wide with awe." (The Stolen Throne, Chapter 14)
"He drew his longsword, its blade pale dragonbone and etched with runes that glowed a bright sapphire." (The Calling, Chapter 7)
It always annoyed me that the runes on Maric's Blade somehow changed from blue to yellow in the transition from page to pixel. So I edited the emissive texture to better match the sword as depicted in the text of the novels and cover art of The Stolen Throne.
I've also included an edit of Starfang which changes the 'runes' of that sword to yellow; a wholly optional and 100% dumb thing I did for my dual-wield Alistair. (Requires Warden's Keep DLC!)
Recommended 'companion mod' for the total lore-accurate Maric's Blade: my Dragonbone Maric’s Blade (Better RTO Items Lite), so Maric’s Blade will spawn at fixed T7 Dragonbone rather than Red Steel or whatever it normally is.
To install, place the tsm_marics_blade_blue folder into the override directory (usually \My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override), and for the yellow Starfang as well, the tsm_starfang_yellow folder.
Don't like 'em? Just delete the folder(s) and forget it ever happened.

For Dragon Age: Origins players who are sticklers for lore and want their gear to match the novels. If you're a completionist who uses Maric's Blade, this is a must-have. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes or overhaul mods – this is purely cosmetic.
