📋 About This Mod
An option to listen to Leliana's wonderful camp song in Dalish again after the original scene.
The scene of Leliana singing "In Uthenera", a Dalish song heard in the Brecillian Forest, is one of the most defining moments of the game, even though it's not an epic battle or a dramatic moment.
Instead, It's a song performed by the campfire, but it carries the very spirit of Dragon Age: Origins within. A tale of sorrow, drama, sacrifice, but also love, friendship, unyielding courage and resillience. So, even if one isn't a Dalish and does not know their language, the lyrics still speak true when one listens to it.
But Leliana performs it only once in vanilla - which in a way makes the scene more memorable. BearRavenWolf came up with a fine idea and told me about it - what if the player were able to listen to it again? I agree it'd be only right, so here's this mod.
A shoutout to Leliana sings at Dragon Age: Origins, a mod that added such option many years ago by adding a purchasable poetry book to Bodahn's store. But the book requires to be paid for each time the player uses it. My solution is different.
Dance Party adds a playable lute to the party camp, which triggers a custom dance scene. I had the pleasure of working on one mod based on Dance Party, Cause This Is Thriller - Dance Party Tweaks, so I thought it'd be nice to use the lute as the trigger for an additional scene as well.
So, when you click on the lute, you're going to see a second option, available only on the plot condition below. Choosing "Ask Leliana to sing the Dalish song, In Uthenera" plays out the cutscene again.
Additional tweak: something I added after I had prepared the screenshots, I thought of it when I was previewing them - Leliana should unequip her weapons prior to her performance, in vanilla she keeps carrying them. Henceforth, she sings without them.
And something I'm going to look into - as you may know, sometimes characters aren't found in their usual places after some conversations/cutscenes. From my testing, it seems the vanilla/modded song scene shuffles a few companions around (Sten, the mabari and Morrigan mostly, Alistair and Leliana to a lesser extent). It's "normal", when one leaves and re-enters the camp, it fixes itself. But I'll gladly fix it properly when it's possible. Fixed in 1. 1, the characters seamlessly return to their original spots after the cutscene ends now.
Requirements:
1) You need to finish the main quest in Brecillian Forest (Nature of the Beast) and witness Leliana's initial camp performance once.
2) Install the required Dance Party file for the lute to appear, it's crucial.
3) (Optional) If you use the Improved Atmosphere version of the camp (e.g. it changes the character placement, adds some tents, modifies the camp dialogue stages), install the IA version. It's important, otherwise a few sequences of the cutscene are going to display glitched camera angles. Specific files needed from IA:
2. Modules/2. 1. Areas/cam100ar_camp_plains.are
2. Modules/2. 1. Areas/2. 4. Conversations/Stages/leliana_partycamp.stg
4) (Optional) If you use Cause This is Thriller, you can remove lute.dlg/dlb and camp_shuffle.ncs from it, everything's compatible. Though it's not necessary, as the load order sorts it just fine as it is
