📋 About This Mod
This is a texture overhaul. Just dump it into your override to install. I hope you like it!
Fully compatible with mods that affect armor tints and/or the tinting system, such as Universal Dye Kit, tmp7704’s subtler tinting tiers, Improved Atmosphere’s tinting modules, etc. If you would like to use the untinted version from the reference images in your actual game, I recommend checking those out.
I've included in the optional files some compatibility patches for tmp7704's proportions fix and elf update mods. Instructions included in the readme of that file.
!!IMPORTANT!! Be sure to either delete duplicate files from proportions fix/elf update (duplicate search tool at https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/3947 can help with this), or make sure this mod is later in the load order (DAO loads from subfolders alphabetically).
Compatibility patch is not necessary if you're using the unisex versions of the fixes, but some of the textures will look weird if you use the non-unisex versions without the compatibility patch. (I honestly don’t recommend using the unisex versions with this, though—in addition to some unintended distortion, the male textures, for some reason, are more than 60% taken up by the baldrics so everything else on there is smaller and therefore shittier resolution than on the female armors. You can see most easily in my reference images by comparing the pteruges on Morrigan to the ones on Zevran.)
I adapted these mostly from DAI assets, but with a great deal of judicious redrawing--I did a lot of painting of n maps by hand. In some places where the vanilla armors were reasonably neutral and inoffensive—mostly some miscellaneous straps and so on, notably the baldrics of the male armors and collars of the female armors—I just de-uglified the vanilla diffuse textures for noise and color consistency, and then applied my own specular and tint maps. This thing was so much work, oh my goodness, I'm so glad it's done. Source material:
Dalish armor: the Dalish warrior armor from Inquisition.
Duster armor: carta coat and NPC dwarven medium armor (e.g. Bianca) from Inquisition.
Studded armor: THIS one was a bit of a production. About one part Leliana, two parts Carver (which is to say, the NPC gear in Inquisition adapted from Carver and Aveline's gear--notably worn by Bron the farmhand and Seanna the horse racer at Master Dennet’s farm in the Hinterlands), and three parts "everything in the game files that said 'Fereldan army' on it". Since Carver's starting armor in DA2 is called something like, 'Fereldan man-at-arms issue" I wanted one of these armors to kind of imitate the look of that. Dunno how successful I was, but there you have it.
Leather armor: mostly the medium adventurer armor in Inquisition. The gorget is from some Orlesian army gear, i for

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community favorite with 849 endorsements and 22k downloads — clearly fills a niche.
- Gives light armor a lore-friendly visual consistency that ties into later game canon.
- Simple texture swap — no gameplay changes, so it's safe for most load orders.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2019 — might not be compatible with the latest game patches.
- Only covers light armor — heavy and unarmored players get nothing.
- No detailed changelog or install instructions provided by the author.
For lore enthusiasts who want their light armor to match the visual style of later games. Also for players who want a cohesive look across their playthrough without altering gameplay. Skip if you're on the latest patch and wary of outdated mods, or if you primarily wear heavy armor.
💡 Beginner Tips
