📋 About This Mod

After years of playing (as well as using many mods) I found that there is a lot of...inconsistency between armor pieces npc's wear.

For example, sometimes the armor doesn't even make sense for their role, or they have mismatching gloves/boots or...well, anything really.

So with that in mind I went into the toolset and looked at the equipment of every individual npc and made small tweaks to have things be more consistent.

Some of them are purely my own preference, but some where (at least imo.) quite needed.

I've included a list of all the npc's affected, and of course you are always allowed to just take the parts you need and replace them with pieces from other mods or whatnot.

All the npc's were changed using vanilla assets, so they should work for everyone.

Let me know if there are any npc's that got broken, or if I missed any.

I've included a screenshot for one of the npc's I changed, but it'd be quite tedious to do all of them, if people want to share their screenshots that's always welcome.

Currently covers 351 npc's in the main campaign, and 79 in the Awakening expansion

Added changes

29 April - made changes to King Endrin and Lord Harrowmont in the Dwarf noble origin

12 May - added the nervous adventurer from the Unbound quest, who had mismatching gloves

29 May - made changes to the guards found at Redcliffe Castle during the climax of the game, as well as those in the throne room during the coronation

the latter guards have added shields with Ferelden's heraldry

17 August - made several more changes to npc equipment, among them; the Mages' Collective npc who's now wearing Tevinter styled robes and a different hat, several npc's found in Ostagar, two npc's from Careless Accusations and a fix for two npc's in Orzammar that I seemed to have added unchanged.

18 April - found out several guards in the Dwarf Noble origin were using darkspawn swords, changed them to dwarven ones instead.

19 April - remade this entire mod, now covers 343 npc's found in the main campaign

23 April - I forgot a few npc's in the City Elf origin, added some Denerim guard shields to them (total number of npc's is now 345)

18 March - Added npc's (79) from the Awakening expansion, I'm not sure if all of them work or are correct. So let me know if any are missing or broken

5 April - Changed Leliana's starting weapon to a bow as opposed to a dagger, she's an archer after all

5 May - Changed three npc's in Ostagar to use regular longswords as opposed to the Cousland family sword

25 July - I overlooked an ambient archer in Ostagar (he's found up near Loghain's tent, where the Lieutenant is explaining darkspawn to his men)

Also added some weapons/armor to some of the Party Camp emissaries, the

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-tested with 170 endorsements and over 12k downloads, so it's got a solid track record.
  • Small and focused—doesn't mess with your whole game, just tweaks a few NPCs' gear.
  • Recently updated (Nov 2024), so it's likely compatible with current setups.

⚠️ Cons

  • The description is super vague—no list of which NPCs or what changes, so you're going in blind.
  • Could conflict with other mods that alter the same NPCs' inventories or appearances.
  • Since it's a niche fix, you might not even notice the changes unless you're a lore/gear stickler.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Dragon Age: Origins players who obsess over NPC gear consistency and want small, targeted fixes without a big overhaul. If you're a casual player who doesn't scrutinize every NPC's armor, you can skip this—it's purely cosmetic and minor.
