📋 About This Mod
What if the Warden were to use their trusty weapon in the most important moment, instead of a basic greatsword? Now it's possible.
The final confrontation of the game is stunning. It's a fitting end to the journey. Although I thought - what about using Starfang, the ultimate greatsword, instead of a random one during the final charge? The mod allows it, though there are certain things to consider first:
1) The tweak is obviously unimmersive if Starfang wasn't forged.
2) The mod also assumes the player was using this very weapon during the final events.
Keeping these points in mind, I had to rework one other detail in the scene:
The vanilla cutscene assumes our character has lost their weapon and, amidst the battle chaos, sees that basic greatsword embedded in... a Fereldan soldier's body. It's a bit odd, considering the darkspawn use their own two handed weapons and this was clearly a human greatsword in the soldier's body. Let's say a darkspawn used the sword against its former owner.
But for Starfang (or other weapons) to work here, I replaced the fallen soldier's body with an elite hurlock darkspawn - it changes the scene now, it was our Warden who fought with the darkspawn and was forced to leave the blade there. Seeing the Archdemon weakened, our hero grabs Starfang again and charges the nemesis.
And the charge itself is something that defines Dragon Age: Origins - a long, difficult path, courage, fear, all kinds of emotions, now culminated in this moment. The way the Warden screams while plunging the weapon in the Archdemon releases it all in a true hero's moment. Duncan would be proud.
As you may notice in many of my mods' screenshots - I really enjoy TheRealPersian's Starfang retexture. Check Dragon Age Evolved II - DAE for it.
Incompatible with mods that change the same .cut and .cub files.
