Dalish Mage Is A Real Mage

This mod will allow the dalish mage to use a staff instead of a bow, and also make their kill with magic instead of a loose arrow (the magic type being used is suppose to be neutral, so no element, just raw magic itself). This was made possible by editing the series of miniature cutscenes that make up the entire intro sequence to be more mage appropriate.

In order to make it possible for players to be a mage/rogue/warrior whenever they want without needing to switch in and out mods--which can be an annoying chore--I basically had to reconstruct a unique branch in the intro for just the mage. So players can be whatever class dalish they want, and each intro sequence will be appropriate for that class (mage with the staff/magic, warrior and rogue with the bow/arrow).

Instructions:

1.) Extract the file and place it directly in to your override folder (:\***\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override).

2.) If there is any other "bed100cr_tamlen.dlb" or "bed100cr_tamlen.dlg" files, mine needs to take priority over them.

3.) If there is any other "default_elf_dal_m.utc" file, mine needs to take priority over it. If you know how to edit utc, you can put whatever gear you want on your dalish mage, just make sure a staff is equipped.

Disclaimers:

1.) This mod is meant to be used with any of the various mods out there that let you play as a dalish mage. This doesn't give the option to play as a dalish mage itself. It only allows said dalish mage to behave like a mage.

2.) This was tested on a completely vanilla game, and also a lightly modded game. I don't use heavy mods, so if any conflicts exist with any heavy mods out there, I wouldn't know of it.

Notes:

I had planned to include a VO fix, so Tamlen wouldn't say "Master Varathorn", but decided against it. It would require a small adjustment to the player's responses, and I didn't want to change any of the vanilla dialogue responses the player can give.
