Armored Robes for Ostagar Mages (and Wynne)

Mages may not be front-line fighters, but it still seemed odd to me that the mages at Ostagar are wearing regular Circle robes when they're expecting to be sent into battle. Everyone else at Ostagar wears armor or a uniform of some kind, so I decided the mages deserved some armor of their own.

This mod puts all mage NPCs at Ostagar, including Wynne, in the "Robes of the Pretender" mage robes from DA2. This does not affect what Wynne and Uldred wear during the "Broken Circle" questline. The Tranquil NPC at Ostagar is not affected.

The "Robes of the Pretender" model was ported from DA2 as part of Loincloth Fashion, which is required for this mod to work. While not required, I also highly recommend the 4GB LAA patch for DAO for anyone using mods, to prevent frequent game crashes.

I've designed this mod to be modular, so you can pick and choose which NPCs are affected. If you encounter conflicts with another mod, or don't want a particular NPC to wear the armored robes, simply delete that NPC's folder. Wynne and Uldred are the only two named mages at Ostagar, but I've also included a separate folder for the "grumpy mage" seen arguing with Alistair, in case you want to use a mod such as TSM The Grumpy One to alter that mage instead.

Note: You must install this mod before arriving at Ostagar, or NPCs may appear naked or invisible.

UPDATE: There is now an optional alternate version that puts Wynne in Bethany's starter outfit from DA2 instead. This version requires the mod Kirkwall Exports in addition to Loincloth Fashion. See installation instructions below.

• []Download and install the main file for Loincloth Fashion. If you want the version of the robes that appears in my screenshots, without the bulky insignia shield, you must also download and install the Loincloth Fashion optional file "Mage Item Pack 2 armor variation."

  []Download the .zip file "Armored Robes for Ostagar Mages."

  []Extract the files and place into your DAO override folder. The override folder is typically located at Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/packages/core/override.

  To install the optional version of Wynne wearing Bethany's DA2 outfit:

  • []Download and install the main file for Kirkwall Exports.

    []Download the .zip file "Alternate Wynne - Bethany Outfit."

    []Extract the file and place into your DAO override folder. Delete the "Wynne" folder from the original version of the mod.

    To uninstall, simply delete all "Armored Robes for Ostagar Mages" files from the override folder.
