Dee de dee dee...
Scale away, scale away, scale away...
i hate that scale mail on heavy armour. now it's chain mail.
currently available for FEMALE HUMAN and FEMALE ELF. yes i have plans to do every other race/gender but i'm tired and want to do like, anything else today.
2/20/2018 - FEMALE QUNARI and FEMALE DWARF added.
this mod works by modifying the textures of that weird stiff armour blanket/foil burrito pj thing which is the base for all heavy armours. you know, the one nobody uses as their inquisitor's jammies, probably bc it looks super uncomfortable. as such it is NOT COMPATIBLE with any other mod that affects the weird space blanket pj thing. every version of this mod should be compatible with every other version (so you can install hf and ef versions together with no conflicts) and i will do an all-in-one when i'm finished with every race/gender. it is fully tintable. it is also extremely sparkly so you know. maybe you're into that.
it SHOULD be compatible with mods that change the colour/texture of the tassets or the chestplate on the 'mail' style armours, but i haven't tested it yet so don't quote me on that. these are not fully play-tested in that i haven't done much beyond see if they work and run around with it a little bit, and i have absolutely no idea if they're dlc compatible, but again when i'm done with every race/gender i'll make a frosty mod version.
please upload pictures of your beautiful inquisitors wearing their new fancy armour i wanna see 'em

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Does exactly what it says: swaps scale mail for chain mail on heavy armour.
- Small but solid following (104 endorsements) for a niche cosmetic tweak.
- No gameplay changes, so it's safe to add to any load order.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2018 — may not be compatible with the latest game version or DLC.
- Only affects heavy armour; if you wanted chain mail on other sets, this won't help.
- No screenshots or detailed install notes provided, so you're flying blind until you test it.
For players who think scale mail looks out of place on heavy armour and prefer the classic chain mail aesthetic. If you're a purist who wants a quick visual tweak without touching gameplay, this is for you. Skip if you're on a newer game version or want more comprehensive armour overhauls.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's a texture replacer, just drop the files into your Data folder or use a mod manager — no special setup needed.
- If you're on a newer version of the game, test it early in your playthrough to ensure the textures load correctly.
- Pair with other armour retextures for a consistent look, but be aware of load order if you use multiple texture mods.
