Project ARES

Overview Project ARES adds three new squads faithfully modelled after real-world US SOF units. Each team provides a unique gameplay experience and a plethora of new classes, equipment, and gear spanning the last 10+ years. ARES was made by - and for - military veterans and enthusiasts with the goal of providing the most authentic special operations experience possible in DK2, while also maintaining careful gameplay balance and playability. Project ARES - No further official updates After a lot of discussion, we’ve decided to stop official development on Project ARES. There will be no further planned updates. We know many of you have been waiting for doctrines for Rangers and Special Forces. The main issue is balance: the units that don’t have doctrines right now are already in a good place and are well-balanced as-is. Adding doctrines on top would require an extensive rebalance to avoid making them too strong and to keep missions challenging and fun. Some of us have moved on from modding altogether, others are focusing on different projects where they can be creative again. We’re not a studio - we’re volunteers who put a lot of free time into this passion project. Please keep it civil. What happens next? We may consider passing the torch if someone genuinely talented can continue in the Project ARES style and vision. However, we are not actively recruiting.
